I’m sure it was hospital food, but the first thing I *ate* after giving birth was a Dunkin Donuts cranberry orange muffin and it was sooooooo amazing.

Darling Husband and I have a tradition of having chicken cheesesteaks on New Year’s Eve. Dear Daughter came at 6:02 pm so we ordered chicken cheesesteaks and kept the tradition alive. Darling Husband also ordered me a big piece of chocolate cake. Things were so hectic and my adrenaline was so high I don’t think I ate the cheesesteak until the next morning and Darling Husband fed me the chocolate cake that night.

I gave up deli meat during pregnancy.  There was a subway in our hospital cafe, which we had to walk past for weeks going to our childbirth classes.  My husband knew that I was looking forward to a turkey sub, so that was my first meal after delivery.  It was kind of delayed because I had to have an emergency d&c after delivery because my placenta was retained.  But once I finally got it, it was everything I’d ever dreamed it would be.  Also, I think your Starbucks beverage is totally fine.  Sugar will not hurt your baby, and the one dose of caffeine is not going to have a significant impact.  You will likely not produce much milk that first day anyway.

I want RAW sushi (I’ve been eating cooked stuff) and a blue moon. I wouldn’t turn down brie on a baquette or a salami and cheese sandwich either. 11 and a half more weeks to go…

snowflake8 :  I had high hopes of sushi and smuggling in champagne. My goodness I laugh at how silly I was and how easy I thought labour would be. I got a sandwich that the nurse managed to find since the cafeteria was closed by the time I got to my room.

Grilled Cheese and fries (vegetarian, so I had to pick from the ala carte menu at the hospital).  I wanted sushi, waited a few weeks for that and glad I did, I had a c/s so I had a hard time eating with the pain meds.

Yeah I would say the caffiene could effect baby (sugar is probably fine though).  Give it a few weeks.  My baby was sensative to what I ate/drank for the first 3 months.  After that I still couldn’t really over-do it on the caffiene or garlic/onion-y stuff (gave her gas) but I could have a cup of coffee in the morning.

27 weeks and I’ve been planning my Jesery Mike’s order for a while now. Realistically, I will probably have hospital food first, but a big sub sandwich will happen asap!

A pizza slice from Ginos.  It was already made,  didn’t have my favourite toppings but I was starving!  Lol

A. Still pregnant, but I’ve told my Future Brother-In-Law that he won’t be allowed in the hospital room without coffee and Subway. I’ve been craving a club sub for weeks, but: cold cuts. 🙁

B. Entirely unrelated to the the post, but 37 weeks! Oh my goodness, you’re so, so close. I feel like I’ve been following your pregnancy on here for months, and I’m so psyched for you!

snowflake8 :  I’m 37 weeks too and I’ve been loving my Starbucks decaf 😊. It helps keep the coffee craving at bay!

My first real meal has to be sushi or a rare steak…… and drink……I want a bottle of Moët Chandon ICE all for myself! Hahaha.

I won’t be breastfeeding so the champagne will be as soon as I get home hopefully lol

My first meal was tea and toast brought by the student midwife.

Tea was just the thing I needed (British bee and I live up to the stereotype when it comes to tea)
