Are any of your male FIs wearing engagement rings too? I got one for my fiance and he loves it. He showed it off to all of his friends at work and he never takes it off. He’d never been a jewelry guy before so he likes wearing it so he can get used to the feel of wearing a ring.
This is a photo I took of one of my (many) wedding magazines a few weeks ago.

@luluvohn: You know, I’ve never thought about this. I’m not sure how Darling Husband would feel about it, but I’m pretty sure he would never admit to liking this notion (but really would). 🙂

@luluvohn: THis is very interesting. I know there are some cultures where both future bride/groom where rings but I haven’t heard about it much here in Canada. My Fiance can’t wait to wear his wedding band so I think he’d wear a man-gagement ring

My Fiance has one and LOVES it! He was so excited to wear one too. I think he loves it so much that he doesn’t want a new one as a wedding band!

I think that is so cool! If I would have known about this earlier I seriously would have invested in one. NEAT!

Since we are long distance (both in the military), me and Fiance are both wearing engagement rings. He says he loves that his ring has “anti-skank” powers, bahaha!

i gave my husband a ring, but it wasn’t an engagement ring. i gave it to him before we were even engaged. he had given me a promise ring and soon after that, he mentioned that he wouldn’t mind having a ring, so i gave him one for our anniversary. everyone (mostly his friends’ wives/girlfriends) thought it was really sweet.

Fiance wears his mangagement ring –
He will swap it to his right hand after the wedding

I know lots of other countries do this! My Fiance and I are both half-Swedish, in Sweden they have “man-gagement” rings so his parents actually did this. Fiance chose not to, but we absolutely considered it.

@luluvohn: My Fiance does! He wanted one, especially since we had such a long engagement. He viewed it as showing others our sincerity and commitment since we were younger than most (18) and were waiting till college graduation (22). He’s been asked a few times if he was already married but didn’t really recieve flack when he explained he was just engaged.
Edit: I just read through the thread. He doesn’t have one in the sense that it will still be warn after we’re married as a right hand or add a band. He will use it as his wedding ring and we will upgrade him down the road when we can afford it. (also when he can not lose it, he’s going on his 3rd ring now lol)

@betsyface: Yes! The anti-skank powers are a BIG plus!
I’m not sure if he’s going to wear his on his right hand or not, but because we were just kind of trying the idea out for fun (only knew one other person who did it, and he wore a kiddie ring) I just got him a Tungsten ring off the internet so it looks awesome, but it was only about $30. If he decides not to wear it after the wedding I won’t be too bothered.

My Fiance would never go for this. Ever. But I think its a cool idea.

This is the one my Fiance wears. He likes it because it’s a little unique

@luluvohn: I got one for Fiance and gave it to him soon after he proposed. It was made from recycled wood. It was really cool, but not so sturdy. It broke after a couple months. So then I upgraded him to silver. He never takes it off!
He loves the style of the silver ring and picked out an identical ring in platinum as his wedding band.
I kept telling him that the first wooden ring was a practice ring – just like in movies set in medieval times people practice sword fighting with wooden swords before they are given metal ones. heh heh.
