My brother is my man of honor for my upcoming wedding on Oct 1st. He is not only my man of honor he is my best friend and an active military man. He is a current boom operator for the US Air Force and has been deployed today to Saudi Arabia. well we were aware of him being deployed but he had it all worked out that he would be back in the states Sept 25 fly out the 27th and be here for the wedding! Well.. then this past Sunday evening he called me and told me that his leave was extended to October 12th which makes me super bummed. But I am just not sure do I have someone else step up in his place or just leave it with no Man of Honor speech and one less person. Could someone please give me some advice on what they would do?
Thank you so much

If it were me, I wouldn’t ask anyone to stand in his place. I would leave his spot open as a honor to him. Is there anyway he could pre-record a speech, or even have him Skype during the ceremony/speeches? It’s a bit unconventional, but it would be so touching and special!
I’m sorry this happened. I know how frustrating the military schedules can be. My Darling Husband was deployed while 2 of his siblings got married, not to mention all the graduations, birthdays, etc, he hasn’t been able to attend.

My dad was gone during my brother’s eagle ceremony, when they had planned to have my dad swear in my brother (or whatever it is they do). Pre days of skype, they taped my dad doing it. It’s not ideal, but it may be the best you can do.
Skype him in. Tape the toast just in case something happens.

Yeah I really am not for replacing him. I was thinking about having my son who is his godson as well as my Ring Bearer stand in his spot during the ceremony and just tell he is helping out his uncle while he is gone. He will feel so special! People just keep bombarding me with the WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO! The line up is off now etc..

I wouldn’t have anyone take his place, but see if a pre-recorded message could be played. Sounds cheesy, but some people do big large cardboard cut outs for people who can’t make it.

Oh that would be too funny to do a cardboard cut out and he sees himself in the video that would be funny!
