The stone you found is gorgeous.  I’m a little worried, based on the dimensions listed for the stone, that it is too small for that setting.  You should call the 800 number they provided and ask if it will work or if they have a similar setting for a smaller stone…  If it is too small, definitely change the setting, not the stone.

You should check out jtv.com. They have a pretty decent selection of gemstones and I’m sure they have Alexandrite (they typically have natural and lab created so just make sure that you click on the “natural” tab). They also have settings you can buy separately:) Worth a try!

I agree that you should check out jtv.com which is jewelry television. It’s a home shopping tv channel. (Haha, bet you didn’t know about such things.) They have a large selection of loose gemstones and settings. I just looked at their alexandrite selection and they have a few pages.

They’re legitimate, a little cheesy sometimes but they’re fine. I’ve ordered a few small things from them before. They have a 30 day return policy which is nice. So if you use them, you could order the gem & setting close to the day, and if she doesn’t love it, you could return it or change it.

I have to say though, I really like the simple setting on the first etsy ring.

Honestly the Laurie Sarah is the first option I’ve seen on this post that I would like to receive!! I think it is beautiful and (even though it shouldn’t matter) all her friends will be jealous.  I also think that it looks classic and she will love it forever!! Beautiful!!

I have heard amazing things about Laurie Sarah! Your mock-ups look great! Just remember that the white sapphires won’t be as sparkly as the diamonds. You may want to consider moissanite if you really want the ring to have fire, but don’t want to go with diamonds. I think that setting is beautiful and that your future wife would be impressed with your taste.

Just thought I would throw it out there: Have you talked to an actual jeweler? There is no cost in talking to them about ordering stones and or a custom ring. It might help to get you started. Sometimes they are a lot more reasonable than you think and can find amazing bargains.

Nothing against Esty etc, I just think that sometimes people forget about “real” jewelers.
