The stone you found is gorgeous. I’m a little worried, based on the dimensions listed for the stone, that it is too small for that setting. You should call the 800 number they provided and ask if it will work or if they have a similar setting for a smaller stone… If it is too small, definitely change the setting, not the stone.

Yall have ruined me with this Etsy place I can’t stop looking, I’m headed for another long night! I hope this doesn’t continue for the next 8 months lol
This is a pretty simple one, that I emailed the seller about, she said she has multiple sizes and mounts without stones, so I asked if she’ll reduce the price for just the mount, and sent her the dimensions of the stone to see if it would work.
I’m still thinking his first choice is in the lead, but we’ll definitely talk to both parties about the size thing. Thanks Dsquared I spent a lot of time learning about the stone, and looking at different ones. Her absolutely favorite would be like that etsy one, with a true green to a true purple, but legitimate ones like those are super high dollar. Theres an international gem and jewelry show rolling into town in a week or two, maybe we’ll stumble on something amazing. I do wonder how long he should wait to buy the stone. I would hate to have them snatched up from under his nose.

Have you tried this store? Really not sure if it’s the quailty you’re looking for but I had it in my faves when was looking for a morganite stone.

Those are some awfully good prices, considering he’s paying double that for the same size stone although the colors aren’t as rich. I like that theres an option to have them certified. Hey theres two in there that are pretty nice, he could forget his budget and just buy all three, and get it mounted with something like this.
Really show his girlfriend what a fiscally responsible husband he’ll be…
JK, but that site is intriguing I’ll definitely bookmark it thanks!

You should check out jtv.com. They have a pretty decent selection of gemstones and I’m sure they have Alexandrite (they typically have natural and lab created so just make sure that you click on the “natural” tab). They also have settings you can buy separately:) Worth a try!

I agree that you should check out jtv.com which is jewelry television. It’s a home shopping tv channel. (Haha, bet you didn’t know about such things.) They have a large selection of loose gemstones and settings. I just looked at their alexandrite selection and they have a few pages.
They’re legitimate, a little cheesy sometimes but they’re fine. I’ve ordered a few small things from them before. They have a 30 day return policy which is nice. So if you use them, you could order the gem & setting close to the day, and if she doesn’t love it, you could return it or change it.
I have to say though, I really like the simple setting on the first etsy ring.

I will definitely check out JTV
I agree on the first etsy ring! Its so beautiful and exactly what he wants. I’m actually trying to contact the seller to ask if he can pay them to have it sent to the GIA, AGL, or AIGS to get it verified.

So the jeweler of the first ring I posted just got back to me, and said my stone wouldn’t work with it 🙁 sadness
EDIT: However I am speaking with some Etsy artists on making one like it, with some custom adjustments to make it truly one of a kind. It may end up a blessing that that ring didn’t work.

Hey again, so there is one Etsy artist I’ve talked to that will attempt to recreate my original setting, and set whatever stone I chose in it. So
However theres also another Etsy artist named Laurie Sarah that I’ve been talking to. She said she could take one of her diamond paved rings, and make one with white sapphires. Which intrigues me, but I have no sense of if it looks good. I very crudely copy and pasted the Alexandrite I’m looking to get into the setting she would be making. Obviously the color wont be that vibrant usually, but as a conceptual idea. What do you think?

Honestly the Laurie Sarah is the first option I’ve seen on this post that I would like to receive!! I think it is beautiful and (even though it shouldn’t matter) all her friends will be jealous. I also think that it looks classic and she will love it forever!! Beautiful!!

I have heard amazing things about Laurie Sarah! Your mock-ups look great! Just remember that the white sapphires won’t be as sparkly as the diamonds. You may want to consider moissanite if you really want the ring to have fire, but don’t want to go with diamonds. I think that setting is beautiful and that your future wife would be impressed with your taste.

OH I LOVE the most recent with the white sapphires! I want to cry it’s so pretty!

Just thought I would throw it out there: Have you talked to an actual jeweler? There is no cost in talking to them about ordering stones and or a custom ring. It might help to get you started. Sometimes they are a lot more reasonable than you think and can find amazing bargains.
Nothing against Esty etc, I just think that sometimes people forget about “real” jewelers.
