I went to my dress appointment today (2nd store I’ve been to so far) and omg I love this place, I told them my budget and they were super helpful about finding me discontinued/sale dresses and evening gowns and stuff (last place said um well here’s our sale rack, don’t expect to find anything)
So I had it down to 2- this lady managed to find THE most AMAZING dress, fit&flare lace with rushing at the waist and omg. But, it was $500, 70% off the original (my budget is $400+ 100 for alterations) and although it fit like a glove it needed hemmed and the train was ridiculously long, so it would probably wind up $600+, for a really really really nice dress…
And then this other one is a bridesmaid/special occasion gown out of a fancy taffeta, also fit and flare and when I put it on, even though it was bright blue, I absolutely could picture it in white, and altered a bit so it had a sweetheart neckline. It was really me. It was way practical, lightweight, no train (summer outdoor wedding friendly) and $229. No lace, but everything else about it was perfect.
Although the first one was probably my dream dress, the second one fit my body and personality like a glove and just fits perfectly into my dream outdoor simple-chic wedding. So I went with that one. Either way I’ll be wondering about the other, I was in love with both, but the lady there said that if I was going to regret spending so much money then, as long as I really like it, I should just go with dress #2 and if finances look good a month out from the wedding come back to buy a lacy veil 🙂
I’m so glad I listened to my brain for a minute, because now I have a gorgeous dress AND money in my pocket and it feels great. YAY! Now the 4 month wait to see it in white…
