Okay, so here is my dilemma. I have recently fallen in love with the idea of using the lace off of my mom’s wedding dress in my veil. It is a really long, thin piece of lace with a scalloped edge, so the only way I can think of incorporating it is by making it into a mantilla veil. If I did, it would look extremely similar to this one:
BUT… I don’t think my dress really goes with a mantilla veil… it has a very decorated bodice and I am worried that they will clash or distract from each other. Looking for opinions. Do you guys think I should go for it or just opt for a boring simple veil?
This is my dress:

A mantilla veil may work, but I would drape the lace over some tulle to see if you can get an idea of if you like it or not. Another option for using the lace on your veil would be to just sew the lace on the bottom and/or partly up the sides of your veil. I hope that made sense. If your gown has the red embroidery, I would not put the lace next to your face. You could also use some of your mom’s lace around your bouquet stems.

Maybe wrap the lave around your bouquet, or have it made into a flower hairpiece or something. I think a plain single-tier veil would look great with your dress.

i second the idea of maybe wrapping the lace around your bouquet, or using it to make your garter. i don’t think that style of veil will go well with your dress.

Thanks, guys! I think that I may make the mantilla-style veil… but make it like a two-tier veil instead of draping it over my face. I’m also gonna make a plain veil as a backup! lol.

I’m a firm believer that mantilla veils should only go on dress that have some sort of lace on them.
