This one’s difficult! Maps are cuter, but driving directions are so much more user-friendly. I think I would go with driving directions, though, so people are able to find your reception :). If you’re ambitious, you could do a cute map on one side, and driving directions on the back.

Driving directions are always best, since I suck at reading maps.

As long as it also has the physical address listed, I would prefer turn by turn directions. A lot of people have GPS systems, so they will probably just type in the physical address anyway.

We did driving directions and people were really appreciative of that. Yes, a map is cute but it can be costly and not as helpful. If you go with driving directions just make sure they are correct! I did driving directions from the hotel where the room block was at to the ceremony/reception site and back.

All I need is an address – i’ve got my smart phone. I’d actually be kind of upset if there were driving directions but no address – I really like being able to plug it into my phone so I can reroute if I miss a turn or something isn’t clear!

If you can manage both I would suggest that only because maps are super cute but as far as directing your guests to a location, unless they are very familiar with the area a map won’t do much good.

Maps are cute, but I think guests who are unfamiliar with the area will appreciate directions. Especially those who don’t have GPS, iPhone, etc.

I did a map with written directions on the back.  I wanted to cut out all possible excuses for people getting lost or being late. I did directions to the church from the north and the south, and also directions to the reception from the church.

@Zaria: several people have mentioned putting the address – definitely do this too! But dont just give the address…the place where we had our wedding does not show up on all GPSs so people would have gotten lost had I not provided step by step directions – I like the idea of doing a card with driving directions on one side and a cute map on the other!

I voted both. Unless you can hilight turn by turn on the map, it will be hard for some people to find the reception venue. But I think you could do both.
