Wow I’m feeling really far behind!  We only got engaged 4 weeks ago.  We have a reception site and photographer but no ceremony site.  I haven’t tried any dreses on yet and I haven’t really been looking forward to it because I gained a fair bit of weight this year.  I don’t think I’ll feel good about myself when I do ๐Ÿ™

Yay, March 23rd brides unite!  I have done a ton too..and my friends are giving me crap for being so far ahead.  Why not?  I’d rather do it all now and then coast through the holidays not stressed!

We booked venue, bought dress, booked DJ, found a photog, are almost finished negotiating with caterer, have had some cake tastings, flower consults, tried on Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses…..oh, and have looked at a few places for rehearsal dinner.  Whew!

Hello fellow March brides!

What I’ve done:

venue (ceremony and reception)

save the dates

picked out bridesmaid dresses

what’s left:

groom’s suit

hotel room for getting ready/wedding night

dress alteration

I thought I was almost done!!

And here’s my dress.. Kenneth Winston (Private label by G) 1485! It even got featured on a local wedding magazine. I bought a sample and didn’t get any alteration yet, so it doesn’t fit perfectly (needs to be taken in around the waist, and obviously needs to be hemmed, planning to put a petticoat under as well)

Another update!

This is a full list of what is done so far, unless I forgot something.

– Ceremony and Reception Venue and Catering are booked

– Scheduled a tasting with our caterer

– Officiant is booked

– Guest List is finalized

– Photographer is booked

– Engagement shoot is done! ๐Ÿ™‚

– Bought FI’s wedding band

– Dress is purchased! And arrived!

– Bought my (maybe) shoes. I might find a pair I like better in the meantime.

– Started registries at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target, and Bloomingdale’s

– Honeymoon and flight are booked! Sandals La Toc here I come!

– Selected invitations/wording

– Groom has purchased his suit

– Hotel rooms for the night before/night of are booked

– Ordered Save-the-Dates

– Booked a florist and signed our contract!

– Booked linen rentals

– Set up the wedding website

– Picked out bridesmaids dresses; just waiting on two girls to get measured so we can order

– Had our tasting with our caterer and finalized the menu

– Picked a bakery for our cake, discussed the design, and put down the deposit/signed the contract.

I still need to…

Book a DJ/lighting vendor, book a videographer (if I want one), find a hair/makeup person, purchase invites, pick out my veil and accessories, finish up registries, purchase a dress for the rehearsal/showers, pick out my wedding band, pick out Bridesmaid or Best Man and Groomsmen gifts as well as parents’ gifts, DIY our rock-candy sea glass favors, purchase loose sea shells, etc.

I’m kind of FREAKING OUT about the DJ thing because my Fiance promised he’d take care of that, and it’s NOT DONE. It’s one of those things that I feel is SUPER major and should have been done like a month ago. ๐Ÿ™

On a high note, my dress came in!!! Still needs to be taken in in the waist/bust, but here she is. ๐Ÿ™‚

I thought I was so on top of things. I only got engaged 2 months ago and my wedding is March 23. I love wedding planning and I thought I was super organized and had it all in control but then I read the list of htings that other brides have done and accomplished and now I feel really behind. So far all I’ve done is:

Bridesmaids proposals (7 girls)

Made a wedding planner binder (downloaded checklists, have color swatches, inspiration pics, vendor info, guest list etc etc)

Bridesmaids Binders

Bought my dress, veil, slip, corset/bra

Engagement shoot done

Just finished STDs, will send when they arrive

Have an engagement party planned for the end of the month, invites done, sending this week

Bridesmaids dresses checked, but they all still need ot order them

Met with a photographer and videographer (not reserved yet)

Reserved our block of hotel rooms today for our guests

Designed our invitations

Designed a monogram

Researched a linen company to rent from (set, waiting until closer to the date)

Meeting with 2 caterers on the 22nd of this month

Made a sign for down the aisle

Reserved and paid deposit for both our ceremony and reception site

Met with a pre-marital counselor

Set a wedding budget

Had a bridal shower (college town, several friends who cant’s attend the wedding) – sent out thank you notes

Made a bridal suite sign

In the process of making bling napkin rings

Reserved my musicians for the ceremony

Have an officient for our wedding

Have a friend making the cake (still looking at inspiration pics though)

Fiance reserved hotel room for wedding night and reserved lodge for honeymoon

Completed Tears of Joy packets

Have bought some decor items like ballons, table scatter, rhinestones, ribbons, vase filler, hurricanes, votives, sumbmerisble lights, poms, etc

We not having a DJ/Band, we not having a florist, and we might not even have videographer so those things don’t still need doing. I have a ton of DIY projects so I’m hoping I can pull it off, I thought for sure I had plenty of time, in fact it feels so far away but as I read through all these comments I’m realizing that time will go quickly, especially since I’m working full-time and in grad school full-time. Oh boy! If you in the Chicagoland area let me know of any vendors, ideas of great tips you’ve learned or picked up in the process of wedding planning.
