onyx81:  I’m in the same boat, my body is showing no signs of going into labor and I have every belief I will be induced as scheduled on the night of the 17th. Oh well, at least we know we won’t have to wait much longer!

ThePrincessBride10612:  Such a sweet baby girl! Thanks for sharing what you used in the hospital, that’s helpful to know. I only have one nightgown and one cardigan and 2 go home outfits… maybe I should get more sleep/lay around shirts.

AFM, 10 days from scheduled induction! DH wants his parents to come up the weekend before our induction (which is scheduled for Monday night). I’m pretty much neutral about it and just hoping that it’s not awkward having visitors on our last few days as just a couple. This is what he wants, so I’m trying to be flexible and not too sentimental. Maybe it’ll make me feel better to put them to work! 🙂 My one worry is that if I do go into labor naturally, I want to labor at home as long as possible, and I DEFINITELY don’t want to be entertaining in laws during that time. But like I said I feel like I’m pretty much definitely going to be induced rather than go into natural labor at this point, so that’s a total hypothetical.

Also FWIW I hate the new Weddingbee format. I feel like it’s very hard to read and all the pictures on the main forum page are very distracting and unnecessary. This is the only thread I’m still following.

jrtink:  Good luck, I hope this is it for you! And I, too, have a TERRIBLE cold. Of all the times! Gah.

onyx81:  Same here. Been 1 cm, 50% effaced since they started checking me at 36w. Womp, womp.

ThePrincessBride10612:  What a cutie pie!! And thanks for sharing your list of things that you brought to the hospital. That is really helpful!

hippomama:  Me too, re: the new format! Every time I log in I get completely disinterested and go do something else instead. … As for your in laws, you are a brave woman. That would not fly for me, but I give you props! GOOD LUCK on your induction, though! That’s my due date!

AFM, 38w4d… I went to the doc yesterday and they told us to arrive at this coming Monday’s 39w growth scan with our hospital bags packed and ready to go because we are most likely going to have to induce that evening. At our 36w scan, baby boy was estimated at just over 8 pounds and still low risk for shoulder dystocia; but both the doctor and the midwife in our practice agree that we’re pretty much guaranteed to hit the moderate-to-high risk window by Monday. So first we will go to one office for the scan; then we’ll go straight to the doc so they can do the shoulder dystocia analysis; and then straight from there we will be going to the hospital (unless he miraculously still measures low risk). They said that we can either induce Monday evening or schedule a c-sec for Tuesday morning. But for me, choosing the induction is a no-brainer even though the risk with the induction is that I’m only 1cm and 50% effaced, and have been for three weeks. And baby is still high up. So my cervix isn’t super favorable for an induction at the moment. Plus, he’s just big and might not want to come down. So there are a lot of factors that could lead to a failed induction, but I’m too stubborn to give up on the idea. I’ve been reading all kinds of positive induction stories, and I’m in a good place right now! Yes, we could still end up with a c-sec, and that would be less than ideal, BUT I’d rather at least try than just schedule the c-sec off the bat. And I keep reminding myself that, in the end, the most important thing is that baby and I come out of this happy and healthy. In the meantime, my sister (who’s acting as my doula) and I are going to spend the whole weekend doing all of the things that are supposed to help me progress — like all kinds of movements on the exercise ball, squat exercise, castor oil, etc. I’m not looking to induce labor on my own, although that would be awesome! Haha… I just would love to see my cervix soften and thin out a little bit more by Monday so that we’re in a better position for a successful induction.

I feel so selfish, and I wish I could shake this feeling and focus on our baby girl.

We had our 37 week appointment today, with a sonogram. Our baby is plump, give or take around 7 lb 13oz. I’m petite to begin with, but I don’t know if that plays a factor. We found out today that she is breech, and will most likely have a scheduled c-section.

I’m not sure if she has room to flip given her size. I should be grateful she is so healthy, but I can’t break this funk.

Is there any hope on her still flipping? Advice?

hippomama:  Wowsers I second that you are very understanding. I am being induced on Monday eeeek just two sleeps away!! I have kind of shut off from people this week and am really enjoying just being me and DH. We are going out for dinner and a movie tonight and just trying to enjoy our last weekend just us. We may go and visit his parents tomorrow if I feel like socialising. (mine live 3 hours away and are coming up on Monday)

LoveMikey:  I should really write and share my birth story but I want you to know that I had a very positive induction story. I was induced due to possible intrauterine growth restriction (baby was measuring small on 36w u/s, estimated to be 4.8lbs). I went in at 37w for induction. I was 0cm dialated, 50% effaced & baby was at -1 station. They started me on misoprostol, when that wasn’t going well we moved on to a foley balloon, (a balloon inserted into my cervix to manually dialate me) – 2 hours later got my epidural, i had that in for 12 hours & it got me dialated to 5. They took that out and started me on pitocin, 9 hours later broke my water and 5 hours after that i had my baby via vaginal delivery. I had in my mind what felt like “every possible intervention” and to me the BEST possible outcome. My birthplan going into induction was “to have a healthy baby.” and I feel like we successfully achieved that.

Oh oh oh… I have to say that I have the nastiest butt rash ever right now! I was in the shower this morning and DH was shaving, he was like “babe do you have a butt rash?” Yup I totally do. Gross! I googled it and apparently its a pad rash. Those tarp pads I’ve been wearing clearly don’t agree with my skin. I must go, baby girl wants to eat. More later!!

bananasareyellow:  This is just what I needed to hear before heading into tomorrows induction! They dont do cervical checks in NZ prior to labour so no idea how ready/unready my body is. I was induced last time and labour was only around 5 hours but this time I have been told to expect a couple days and possibly the need for an epidural to control my bp if it rising during delivery.

crysxo:  I agree with Banana’s about checking out spinning babies. I wouldn’t put too much stock in baby’s estimated size. They were off with their estimate on my baby’s size by almost 2lbs! I hope you are able to enjoy the final days of your pregnancy and that baby is healthy!

MeeShell:  You are going to rock this!! I went into my induction at 37w w/out ever having a cervical check either. The docs told me to expect it to take a day or two as well, (I was admitted at 8am Tuesday and had baby 10:20pm on Wednesday. It sounds like a seriously long time but DH & I watched a ton of TV, ate a bunch of snacks, walked L&D & eventually I ended up with my epidural so then i really ramped up my TV watching. I didn’t read a single magazine that I took with me and barely used my iPad. I had an extra battery pack/charger for my phone because I burned through the battery a buncha times playing online, texting people, etc. I wish you nothing but the best. See you on the other side!!
