I’m getting married at the end of March and am struggling to pick a honeymoon destination! We are looking for locations where there are plenty of things to do. Several of the places we would like to go will still be wintry, which we don’t mind, but we just don’t want to miss out on anything. For example we are interested in Banff, Yosemite, and Ireland. So share with me where you are going to I can get some ideas!

We went on a wonderful trip to Sri Lanka in mid March. The weather was lovely and it is between seasons for them (depending on when Easter falls) We did a week’s private tour of the island with our own driver and saw some amazing places. The second week we stayed in a beach resort which was AMAZING! We basically had the place to ourselves on a few days because it was low season.
It wasn’t our honeymoon, but it would have made a great honeymoon.

New Zealand or Australia 😀

dbee33 : We had our honeymoon this past year in late march/early april.
We did a cruise to the carribean and the weather was amazing! No storms, no rain, not overly hot, perfect tanning weather lol. We loved all the stuff to do on the ship (singing and dancing shows, comedy shows, casinos, movies on the deck, night clubs, guest competitions, Bingo, pool, shopping, THE FOOD ) we didn’t preplan our excursions and it was SO fun to sit each night with the brochure of where you will be going the next day and pick one together. They have so many options or you can do your own thing and cruise around.
We did a mayan ruins and beach stop excursion in Cozumel, Kayaking and snorkeling in Cayman Islands and a Bob Marley Bus Tour in Jamaica plus lots of shopping! Ugh take me back!!!

I agree with New Zealand. It sounds like you are looking for somewhere scenic and New Zealand will be at the end of its summer. Australia will be great weather too. Other options are Indonesia, Thailand, Mauritius and southern Spain.

We are doing a Mediterranean cruise for our late March/early April honeymoon. Temperatures will probably be in the 60s (F) which is fine by us because we aren’t beach people. An added benefit is that early spring is “shoulder season” so prices were much lower than the popular summertime!

We went to Athens Greece in April. It was perfect weather for walking around and seeing the sights.
We aren’t beach people, so that wasn’t on our list, I think it was a touch cool for the water.

It depends on how much you want to spend. We went to Breckenridge, CO in February 2017 for our honeymoon. The skiing was great, food was delicious, lots of fun shops, snow, delicious coffees and wine bars, everything was very cozy and festive. 🙂 Fortunately, our family friends have property close to downtown and ski lifts, so lodging was free. If you go before or after spring break, the traffic won’t be so bad. The theater there is excellent as well.

The cherry blossoms will be out in Japan at that time. We went the last week of March into the first week of April a couple of years ago. It was really beautiful with comfortable spring temps and more things to do than we could possibly fit in one trip.

dbee33 : Australia or the South Pacific is a great place to honeymoon – our winter is their summer.

I just got back from Banff and it was AMAZING!! I’m not sure what the weather will be at that time, but I highly recommend it!

dbee33 : I second Japan, spring is a really nice time to go. I’ve been twice now (each trip two weeks long) and we are likely heading back next year because there is so much to still see.

We went to Vail, CO (March) for 2 weeks. We specifically pushed our honeymoon back to be there during ski season. We skiied most every day but also went tubing, snowmobiling, day trip to Aspen, etc. We opted to rent a VRBO (townhouse) so we had plenty of space. We loaded up at the grocery and opted to do breakfast at our rental, lunch out on the mountain while skiing, and dinner usually back at the rental or went out. Usually by the time we skiied all day we didn’t really feel like going out.
It really just depends on the kind of honeymoon you envision and your budget. We could have spent way less going to a beach somewhere or all-inclusive, but we love to ski and regularly spend a lot of time in tropical places for DH’s job.

We went to Crystal River, Florida for our mini moon . We are beach people and we love anything marine related. Lots of sight-seeing, state parks, seafood etc. So we checked off swimming with manatees on our bucket list. It was an amazing experience! We were originally going to do our dream honeymoon to Australia but we were in the process of house hunting. Hopefully either next year or sometime in a few years we’ll be able to do that major trip but I was really happy with Florida and recommend if you have the chance to go then do it (even if not for a honeymoon) 🙂

L606 : How long was your trip? And where did you fly to start the cruise? I was thinking about going to the Caribbean islands but a cruise sounds fun too.
