Hi bees!!
I know there are a ton of you out there who support the fight for marriage equality so I just wanted to encourage you to turn your facebook profile picture red while the Supreme Court is hearing DOMA and Prop 8 cases! I’ve seen a good number on my page today but I would LOVE to see more and hope some of you have already and will change your pic! =)

I would say 90% of my facebook friends have done this. Feeling really good about the people I associate with.

@newname_99: Two big cases regarding equal rights for all Americans — specifically gay Americans — are being discussed today and tomorrow. One is to determine whether the Proposition 8 decision, which repealed legal gay marriage in California, is constitutional. The other is determine whether the Defense of Marriage Act, DOMA, is constitutional. Here’s hoping!

This may sound ignorant, but what will changing your prof pic on facebook to that do?? Just show that you support it? Or am I missing something?

@Meowkers: YAY your friends!! I’m a tiny bit disappointed in mine because I KNOW a good number of my friends and family support it but they haven’t changed their pics =/ (even though they’ve “liked” mine haha) but I’m SO happy to see it everywhere!!
@allyfally: that’s awesome haha
@newname_99: yes!! Right now the US Supreme Court is hearing a case looking to repeal Proposition 8 (a proposition in California which currently bans same-sex marriage) & they are also hearing a case against DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act written into US law by President Clinton defining marriage as one man & one woman only)…the cases are back to back & big news so the Human Rights Campaign launched these red & pink equality signs to show support for marriage equality being passed in the US
@wrkbrk: my coworkers & I were talking about it too! 1 stayed SUPER quiet sadly (although she’s also asked questions about my gf so she might be one of the okay with gays but not okay with marriage people) but the others were adamantly Pro!!!

@yogaqueen: yes it’s just showing support. Unfortunately not everyone can donate funds or time toward the campaign but to me, it is nice to see =) it would be so nice if every person that changed their pic or supported could donate just $1 though! It’d add up quick!!
ETA: & raising awareness obviously!
