If I am getting married in a different county than where I live, which county am I supposed to apply for a wedding license? Or does it matter if it’s within the same state?
I live in Los Angeles county and the wedding is in Orange County, CA.

Check with your local clerk of the court, but usually, the license is good for the state.

Like mdarrah said, check with your local city clerk. We had to get the license in the county were we were getting married, even though it was not the county that we lived in. Ours also had to be applied for well in advance, so check into it before heading to your local office!

underneathy– mine is the opposite case as yours: we live in OC but are getting married in LA (long beach). you can get a public license through LA county and you can get married anywhere in CA with it… but if you want a confidential license, you need to get it in the county you’re getting married in.
