This is more than likely a stupid question but I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere. We live in Arizona but our wedding will take place in Texas. Do we get our marriage license here or in Texas? I can’t find anything on the AZ court website, and the Texas site says you can get the license in Texas and take it to any state. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was the same way in AZ.
Thanks in advance.

I was always under the impression that you get your marriage license in the state in which you’re getting married.

Texas.. but it takes three days so get there early! Also, I believe they require some sort of marriage counseling before you get the license..
Not 100% sure… I’m getting married in Tx but we’re military and therefor don’t have to follow the rules for some reason. lol

We are doing pre cana stuff for Church anyway so the counseling I’m not worried about. The only reason I asked is because Arizona offers something called a Covenant Marriage and I was hoping we could get that. Arizona also lets you apply up to a year before the wedding and there’s no waiting period. You can only apply for the TX license 30 days in advance but it must be at least 3 days before. My Fiance is in Afghanistan and we don’t know how long he will be home before the wedding. He’s not military though so the “skip the waiting period” rule won’t apply. Sounds like this is going to be a fun time. 🙂
Thanks for all the help.
