So my Husband and I have been married for three months now. Before the wedding our pastor told us that our official marriage license would be mailed to us. But we have received nothing. After talking to someone who was recently married in the same state as me (NJ) she said she had to go to the municipality in which she was married in and pick up the marriage license herself. After researching online, I can really only find information about the application process that takes place before the wedding. Does anyone know of any specific information on how this process really works?
I am going to call the municpality in which we were married but I wanted to see if everyone else knew how this worked or if my husband I are the only ones who have no clue.

I’d follow up with your officiant and make sure he filed it, then follow up with the county clerk. Maybe because you got married during peak wedding months it’s taking a little longer?

you should have received it all ready . i went to get my license yesterday and the said the officiant has 5 days to file it after the wedding and we should receive it in about 20days.

When we applied for our license, we had to address an envelope to ourselves at our new address so that they could mail it to us. It arrived shortly after we got home from our honeymoon.
Three months is definitely too long. I agree with others that I’d check with both your pastor and with the office where the application for your marriage license was filed.

We did the same thing as gemstone, also we got 2 “fake” copies to use as temporary proof and it also explained that if you don’t recieve it within 3 weeks to call a number. You should probably just go down to whereever you got the lisence and ask them.

You should have it by now. If your county’s courthouse/administration is close stop by and see what’s going on. They should be able to tell you if it was filed, and where it went.
