do you happen to know if I have to get a Nebraska certified copy? like do I have to “transfer” the proof, or are marriage records universal in the states

that’s a really good question and I’m honestly not sure. You should be able to call the clerk at the courthouse where you live and ask though.

I just have the marriage license we submitted originally with signatures from the witnesses and officiant on it. From there, the town embossed it with a seal, signed and dated it. The town recorded it in their records and holds a file on copy. This is proof of our marriage.
NE cannot certify a wedidng that occured in VA. I believe all heterosexual marriages that happen in the US are recognized by the other states.

Here in FL it is just an extra stamp and seal added to the marriage license. I was disappointed we didn’t get something prettier lol I also paid $4 for 4 extra copies since everything I read said I needed copies to make changes. Nope just use the same certified copy for SS and DL!
