Ok, so it’s kind of twisted but I’ve been watching failed marriage proposals on Youtube…and I can’t help but cringe AND laugh when I see them. I think it’s every guys worst nightmare to pop the question, especially in a majorly public way, only to be rejected.
However, that kind of makes it obvious how important it is to ensure that you have talked about marriage and having both people AGREE that they want to get married (and to each other) before planning a proposal. And guys – KNOW YOUR PARTNER well-enough to know whether or not they are the type who would not WANT a big public proposal.
There are definitely downsides to doing a super secret proposal if you have not covered the above factors first…
Witness the misery:

So brutal – I honestly wonder if this happened to me if I would say yes in that moment so I didn’t embarrass the one I loved… and then talk about it afterward. The slap one has to be fake ! bananas!

im surprised that they all run away – i mean, i don’t know what i would’ve done, but i don’t think i would’ve run away to leave my bf embarassed and alone in such a public way
i agree with
@CanadianMermaid – i don’t think i could say no so publicly

Yeah – I think I would also say yes in that situation and talk about it later…but hey, good on them for at least being honest upfront. I watched another one and realized there is another thing for men to keep in mind when doing a surprise proposal – a marriage proposal is not a magic fix-all for infidelity or any other mistake you may have made. If the relationship is having problems, a proposal is probably the stupidest thing you could do – other than getting pregnant to try and “fix things”.
Exhibit A: (note she repeats “You can’t fix it like this” a few times while he is begging *ugh-pathetic* for her hand in marriage)

Good lord. Why did they all just…RUN!
I found this while watching: I laughed so hard. I know it was horrible…but NOONE SAW IT COMING AND THEY SHOULD HAVE:

@soyjoy222 that is brilliant…lol…watch those tide times when you are planning your beachfront wedding, folks. She should have gone with a tea-length dress if she wanted to be that close to the shore!

@soyjoy222: Yeah, I seriously lost 30 minutes of time watching the “related” videos.
This was really sweet, however.
