- Wedding: May 2013
I’ve been browsing, posting, and commenting on the bee for just over a year now, and I finally get to say we’re married! Woo hoo!!!!
We were both so incredibly happy the entire day, that no matter what happened, nothing was going to dampen our spirits!
Inevitably, as all the brides before me have said, something will go wrong…so true!
1. Rain. Boo rain! We moved our ceremony to indoors and didn’t take a single picture outside because it rained heavily the entire day. I even bought an umbrella! But the rainfall just seemed to heavy, I do regret not sucking it up and just going out for a few shots. Our venue said we could attempt to arrange returning for outdoor shots, we are waiting to receive our images before deciding on that!
2. No one danced until the last hour or so. When I read other brides’ fears being no one dancing, it honestly never even crossed my mind. We go out dancing with these people all the time, our dance floor will be packed! So not the case, and this was what disappointed me the most of the whole day. There were times when it was just me and DH on the floor, it felt so embarrassing.
3. Two of the groomsmen left early with their SOs. Maybe not, but we thought it was an unspoken rule that the bridal party stays til the end (no, they did not have other obligations). At least at every wedding we’ve been to, that’s been the case, so it hurt that they left so early. And they didn’t dance, so I hardly saw them the entire evening.
4. We opened up the photobooth too early. I think this was a large part of why the dance floor was empty. We opened the photobooth at the same time, so that’s where most people were to start the night. Big mistake. Don’t do it! We did it to enable the older folks to have a chance to use it in case they left early, but it wasn’t worth the bare dance floor!
And not that this went wrong, but it certainly irked me…my brother’s fiance sat at her table on her phone/facebook the entire evening!! I was hurt and angry about this, it was unusual behavior for her and I just think it’s plain rude. It’s a wedding!
All in all, it was the best day of our lives, and believe what everyone says, it does go by way. too. fast!!!
