- Wedding: May 2012
The day we had prepared for, agonized over and anticipated finally arrived in the beautiful, charming town of Hot Springs, North Carolina on Thursday, May 10. Ours was a small affair — only 50 guests. It was the absolute perfect size, and because everyone had to travel and stay overnight, we actually got to spend quality time with everyone.
Words really can’t express how pleased I am with how it all turned out. The weather couldn’t have been better (everything was outside with no rain backup). The food was incredible. The cake was epic (salted caramel, anyone?), and over and over, people were a-twitter over how this was the best wedding they had ever attended.
My now-husband was so handsome! Before I came down the aisle, he started tearing, which just got everyone going. What a moving, beautiful, absolutely PERFECT day. I wish I could bottle it up and keep it forever. But I have the next best thing: PICTURES! Enjoy, all!

One of our DIY projects, finished off with flowers and tulle by a friend of ours.
We rescued this from a fire pit at the venue and re-painted some of the stencils.

Our centerpieces…each table was a different national park. A neighbor loaned us the wood slices, which were found in her crawlspace when she bought her house, and the bottles were given to us by a friend who collects antique bottles from river beds, old construction sites, etc.
Isn’t he just beautiful?
Perhaps my favorite candid among the guest photos.
