@cmbr:  I got a Shark clothes steamer and I LOVE it.  I hate ironing. Steaming is so much better. Plus I used it on our curtains and even the new shower curtain.

On a side note, I already had a shark steam mop before the wedding – but I love it, too.  I love not having to buy cleaner or lug a bucket of mop water around.

What was the best/most useful gift you got? Our knives, best things to ever happen to me!

What are you happy you registered for? Everything, it was fun getting new stuff.

What do you wish you had registered for that you didnt? A kitchenaid mixer.

Conversely — anything you registered for that you now regret? We returned some stuff that we decided we would never use. Gravy dish, wok, china and some random things. We ended up using that money to buy the rest of our dishes.

Best thing we registered for was our fancy serveware ๐Ÿ™‚ I would have never spent that much money on those Laura Ashley porcelain serving bowls and dishes. Oh, and also some fancy Ralph Lauren sheets. Again, I would have never spent my own money on those.

I do wish that we’d registeerd for some fancy kitchen electronics. Oh well.

Stuff that I registered for that I now regret? Bakeware from Williams Sonoma. I barely bake. I’ve been married for two years and my bakeware are still in their original packaging.

A set of copper bottomed pans.  We cook a ton and I’ve been dying to open them, but Fiance says we have to wait until after the wedding…..but I’m very tempted.

Hard to pick a best thing; we love our everyday dishes a lot, and our cutlery, and our wine glasses, and our new knives, and I am still obsessed with our (my) mixer.  I wish we’d registered for a new toaster oven, but honestly, I wouldn’t have NOT registered for anything we got so I feel like we chose wisely!

We did get china because we entertain a lot and I love to have dinner parties, but I can see china being superfluous in a lot of households.  Thanksgiving is HUGE in my family–so, china had to be on there.  If I had to choose between everyday dishes and china, I would have picked the everyday dishes, though. We got the matching serving dishes (giant platter, giant pasta bowl-style serving bowl) and I love whipping them out and going “oh, this was from so-and-so!”. Since it’s everyday-wear, it happens regularly ๐Ÿ™‚

I love our china.  It’s just so pretty.  Also, as dumb as it sounds, my Calphalon 12-muffin pan.  I’m so over the two old crappy ones I had that only made 6 muffins/cupcakes.  Our knives are pretty great, too – SO much better than our old ones.

I wish I had thought to register for a mini-muffin pan.  ๐Ÿ™‚  Also more of the pop-top square storage containers.  LOVE them.

The only thing we got that I don’t use much is the 12-quart All Clad multi-pot.  But I love it.  It’s just overkill for 1lb of pasta, so I don’t have occasion to use it often.  I even got out the fryer on Superbowl Sunday to make greasy snacks for me and mom.

What was the best/most useful gift you got? new kitchen knives

What are you happy you registered for? China and crystal.  I love it and when would you buy that stuff on your own.

What do you wish you had registered for that you didnt? nothing – we put everything we needed on the list

Conversely — anything you registered for that you now regret? We registered for and received a toaster oven and a food processor and we rarely use either one.  Both were bigger items, so we probably should have left them off.

My favorites are the Kitchenaid toaster oven and Dyson vacuum. Most useful are the bedding and bath rugs, towels, and shower curtain. Also I love the way our Waterford dishes look in the cabinet although we’ve only used it once. Oh, and we received two picture frames, I put our portrait in one and our full bridal party pic in the other ๐Ÿ™‚

The blender I’ve only used twice, food processor has not been used yet, but they look great on the counter.

We also recieved luggage from our registry, which we used on the honeymoon.

I registered for a mandolin (sp?) veggie cutter which as soon as I recieved it I was like, what was I thinking when I asked for this? I know you can return things but I didn’t feel right returning it.

What was the best/most useful gift you got? (On or off registry)- On registry: Nespresso- Off Registry: Cash (haha)

What are you happy you registered for?- Nespresso

What do you wish you had registered for that you didnt?- An electric pressure cooker. Darling Husband was laboring under the delusion that these were unsafe (as the old stovetop ones could be dangerous). After our wedding, we saw this thing in action at the store and we ended up getting one for ourselves after all. If you are vegetarian, this is super handy for quick risottos and beans/lentils.

Conversely — anything you registered for that you now regret?- A super duper fancy knife set (as in the several hundred dollar sets). I liked it a lot in the moment because it was really lightweight and sharp, but I’m a bit of a klutz so I’m scared to use them. They’re still sitting in the box. I wanted to exchange them for something else but a very good friend gave them to us and Darling Husband feels that a really good set of knives is something that’ll last a lifetime (which is also true).

– Too many “small” inexpensive things. I registered for a lot of somewhat inexpensive but classic servingware and a lot of lower-priced items, like bbq grill baskets/pans. People ended up bundling a bunch of these things together in one gift rather than going for one major gift (i.e. $200 worth of small stuff vs $200 one item). There were things on the registry that were bigger-ticket items that I really really really wanted and didn’t get and I had to take back a bunch of the smaller “nice but not needed” things to exchange for the bigger ticket items I really wanted. We did get cash gifts, but Darling Husband felt that we should save that for our downpayment, rather than spending it on things we don’t necessarily need.

– We needed large drinking glasses when we were registering so we thought to register for them and we received them. Unfortunately, we were caught up in the moment and we now have a set of really beautiful, chic glasses that are very thin and somewhat delicate which are not really suitable for every day use.

My Keurig was my favorite gift I registered for; I wish I would have put a Bissell Carpet Cleaner on the registry.
