@sherryberry: if you didn’t get a paper invite then I would say no.

I think that older guests usually send a gift if they don’t come. That being said I send gifts if I don’t attend. It is proper etiquette and I’m a bit of an etiquette stickler.

@sherryberry: I don’t think you have to in those circumstances, but I would probably still do a small gift. Just me.

I can’t really add anything (yet) I was just reading out of curiosity. 🙂 Carry on! lol.

I don’t feel like people who can’t make it are obligated too and certainly wouldn’t be upset if they didn’t but I would just think it was super sweet and thoughtful if they did.  I also don’t agree with people sending invites to people they know can’t make it just because they think they will get a gift.

We got gifts from some who couldn’t come. Mostly it was from his family who lives accross the country who sent us cards and gifts. I’d say in totaly is was probably half that said no sent gifts.

We got one gift from a No RSVP..it was family. Honestly, we had a low gift/card to guest ratio anyway though.

I got some money from a few of my family, but other than that no. We had 50 or so people rsvp no or yes and not show up, and none sent gifts.

We got gifts from 4 or 5 couples who couldn’t make it. Maybe 1/4 of the people that RSVP’d ‘no’ gave us gifts.

We got nothing. Not even a card to acknowledge they’d received our invite, much less an RSVP. But, to answer the question directly, we had about 30 people say no and received nothing from any of them. Only received one gift from the maybe that couldn’t make it in the end.

I agree…. if you get an invite at least send a card with good wishes for the couple. It’s really rude to be invited in writing and never respond. << mini rant, sorry this really annoyed me recently.
