there’s been a lot of discussion about when people take off their e-rings. I am in the habit of taking off my e-ring (and often just any jewelry I’m wearing) when I come home. I always put it in the same spot. I clean and cook a lot at home, and I would hate for my ring to get dirty.
So my Fiance asked me if I was planning to take off my wedding ring after the wedding. And I didn’t have any answer. Just on a personal comfort level I’d guess yes, but aren’t married people not supposed to take of their wedding ring?
What do you do? Or does the type of ring (simple band/ diamonds) make a difference?

i have two wedding bands, one with diamonds all around the band and a plain gold band. due to my active lifestyle i rarely wear the diamond band or my ering or eternity ring so almost 100% of the time i wear a plain gold band only. i cant remember the last time i wore my diamond rings

I have a round solitaire e-ring and a diamond half-eternity wedding band. I would say that I wear them 95% of the time. I take them off any time I know I am going to get my hands wet or I am going to be doing manual labor.

I take my rings off when i’m doing certain crafts and work that could damage my rings or make them dirty, like working with paint or modelling paste and planting flowers. And i take them off when i shower, because i’m paranoid that the stone of my solitaire e-ring falls off and gets washed down the drain.

To clean them. That’s it. I went for simple so I wouldn’t have to leave them off. Hubby never takes his off too. My parents wore their plain gold bands for 30 years without ever taking them off. I’d always admired the symbolism behind it. Only in the past year did they take them off in order to resize then (they were getting painfully tight).

I take mine off to shower, wash dishes, put on lotion…but generally, it’s on my finger. Like pfinarffle, I considered the wearability factor and went with a plain white gold band. My e-ring stays on most of the time, too, but I will leave it at home when I go the the gym.

Both me and hubby take ours off as soon as we get home. It is just more comfortable and as PPs mention, esp when cooking, cleaning, etc. But whenever we leave the house – to go to work, the grocery store, whatever, we always wear our rings. We feel naked if we don’t! The only exception is when I go running. I do not wear my ring for that, otherwise I always wear it outside of the house.

I take off all my jewelry (wedding band included) when I’m bathing, cleaning, doing yardwork, swimming, sleeping, etc.

I take off my wedding band whenever I take off my e-ring. Usually only to do dishes or yard work. I keep it on to cook, shower, sleep.

Hubs doesn’t take his off usually. Only to work out and shower. But I take mine off as soon as I get home. I would have taken them off anyway even if they were plain gold bands. Whatever it is, I don’t want to dirty it or get food, etc. stuck on it. It’s not a part of my body. It’s a symbol of my marriage. I can take it off and still feel married and know the meaning of my relationship.

I take mine off to cook, clean, dothe dishes, or shower. its a diamond half eternity band and it never feels right to have it on when I’m to touching cleaning chemicals and soap. My husband only wears his when we go out socially because he cant wear it to work

We both take off our rings pretty much the minute we get home. Both my rings have diamond eternity bands so they get dirty easily but it’s more a comfort thing. We don’t wear them to the gym but other than that they go on before we leave the house 99% of the time.

Darling Husband takes his off to shower and is constantly forgetting where he left it but rarely leaves the house without it. I take mine off if I’m cooking something that involves my hands like meatballs or cookies but generally no other tiems. Yesterday I took my rings off at the gym when my trainer had me doing something that they got in the way but I put them right back on. I don’t wear mine to the beach as long as I remember.
