So I just realized today that DH and I totally forgot to celebrate our 3 year dating anniversary yesterday. Relationship fail! When I told DH, he just laughed–because we forgot to celebrate our dating anniversary last year too. So we’re, like, 1 for 3 on remembering our dating anniversary. (The most embarrassing part is that we’re not even completely sure that yesterday WAS our dating anniversary. When I remembered it today, neither of us was actually sure it was August 28, but we did agree that that “sounded about right.”)
Anyway, how many of you married bees still celebrate your dating anniversaries? Is it still a special day for you, or has it been kind of replaced by your wedding anniversary? If you celebrate both, do you celebrate them equally, or do you treat your wedding anniversary as more important/special than your dating anniversary?
And, bonus question: how do you celebrate your anniversaries? Do you go all out, or do you keep it low key?

We never had a dating anniversary. And we actually don’t really celebrate our anniversary right now either. Our first wedding anniversary I don’t even remember what we did besides eat the cake out of the freezer.
I more prefer to celebrate the biggies… like 5, 10, 20, etc because I am big on doing the little things on the other 364 days of the year I did not say I do, and so is he.

I voted yes because we got married on our dating anniversary. 🙂

We got engaged on our dating anniversary so it’s doubly special. We’ve decided we’ll make the wedding anniversary the big one but still do something to mark it e.g. go out for dinner.

I voted yes, however me and my husband have talked about this and we’ve agreed that until we’ve been married longer that we’ve dated, we’ll continue to celebrate our dating anniversary. Once we’ve been married longer than we’ve dated, then we will stop celebrating our dating anniversary.

As to how we celebrate, we’ve always had a meal in or out and exchanged cards and presents for our anniversary so will now do this for the wedding one 🙂

Haha DH and I don’t even know what our dating anniversary is! We first met at an annual event, so we’ve at least been like “aww, ___ years since we met” whenever we go to the event again … but even that’s going to stop when we move cross-country so it’s a big fat no!
But, it was REALLY cute when my dad remembered his 25th dating anniversary with my mom (she had totally forgotten) and got her this really sweet gift for it. Too bad that will never be me

I wouldn’t say we celebrate it but we acknowledge it. On a scale from least celebrated to most would be least dating, middle proposal anniversary, and most wedding anniversary. For our one year wedding anniversary we’re going to see Wicked.

We will celebrate our next one with something big (its #10!) but after that I would guess probably not?

No. We were matched online through eHarmony, decided to meet in person a little more than two months’ later, were engaged five months after that, and married 11 months after that. The only anniversary we have ever celebrated is our wedding anniversary.
If, however, I had married at a much younger age and had married someone whom I had dated for several years, I probably would be very sentimental about the anniversary of our first date.

We had cupcakes and Mr. LK brought me flowers on our dating anniversary this year. That was it. So not quite a “celebration”, but something.

We celebrate every year with a big trip and splurges. We’ve been doing it for 7 years why stop now that we are married 🙂 Our dating anniversary is the same date as our engagement, so even more special. The wedding anniversary is more low key and more of an intimate affair instead of a big trip for us.

As an update to my post, DH looked up our old Facebook messages, and it turns out August 29th is our dating anniversary. When I got all excited about still having an opportunity to celebrate, DH informed me that today is, in fact, August 31st. No wonder I can’t remember our dating anniversary!

We’re not married yet but Fiance and I will always celebrate our dating anniversary because it’s also his birthday! 🙂

My boss and I just actually had a discussion about this the other day. He told me he was celebrating his 10th year with his wife, then I asked if it was for the marriage or dating. He said marriage because they sort of dropped the “dating” date. The reason why was because they only dated for 10 months before the wedding day, so they never even celebrated the 1st year.
However, my Fiance and I have been together for over 8 years. We celebrate every year and plan on having two anniversaries after we get married. I guess it all depends on the couple on how long they’ve been together for.
