I got mine sent out by the three month mark.  I would have gotten them done earlier, but I was in my first trimester of pregnancy and too tired to move!!

We were married in late October and back from our honeymoon by around November 10. I started them as soon as we got back and had them all finished by Christmas.

I’m not married yet, but I have attended a lot of weddings in the past few years.  Typically I have gotten thank yous in the mail between 2-4 months after the wedding, and thought that was fine.  One came about 2 weeks after the wedding, but that was a wedding with less than 40 guests.

Also, I would be careful about sending out the ones you have done before you are finished.  As silly as it sounds some people could be upset if they found out someone got a thank you already and they did not (then again some people are too easily offended).

@Kit_Kath:  I agree with you.  I sent out groups of family/friends so that Aunt Sally would get a card but her sister, Aunt Susie didn’t.

It is pretty expected that with pro photos it takes 2-6 months to get thank yous out.  All the weddings we have been to have taken that long.

Ours went out at 2 months.  I handmade the cards and used a pro photo which is very time consuming already but to have to handwrite them too?  Arg.  And sadly I found 4 that got mixed into my craft box that did not get sent out just this week. Eek!!

Ugh. Haven’t done mine yet. We’re at the two-month mark. Most of my friends have been repeatedly assuring me of the ‘six month’ or ‘one year’ rule. Just received thankyous from a couple who were married a year ago.

We have 140 thank you cards to write.

NO way that 2 week thing is true! I was still on my honeymoon 2 weeks later!

I asked around when I hadn’t done mine yet and my own guests said 6 months.

I had mine done just under the 3 month mark.

@OoOTifsterOoO:  We’re doing a joint holiday & thank you card and plan to have them all out by Dec. 31st (married 11/3).  That could be a thought if you want to do both.

@Kit_Kath:  ITA agree with that. I waited and finished them all up at the same time, but took a few different trips to the post office to get them out. 2 days after my grandmother received her card she asked me why my uncle didn’t get his yet. Seriously?! Of course, his came a few days later, but my family was way too worked up about these damn thank you cards.

I still don’t understand how anyone could think that they should be sent within 2 weeks. I didn’t even open the cards/gifts until almost a month after the wedding because we left immediately for our 2 week honeymoon and left the envelopes/gifts with my parents for safe keeping while we were away.

As gifts came in before the wedding, I wrote thank you cards immediately. It was the same after my shower. As for the gifts received at the reception, those thank you cards were sent out within two weeks.

I sent mine out during my honeymoon. So, like a week after?

FYI we did a road trip to Florida. 23 hours one way = lots of time for writing thank you’s!

It took we 3 1/2 months. we came home from our honeymoon to learn of a cancer diagnosis for Father-In-Law and then we were into the holiday season. We also had to unpack from our move. I finally finished them when I was off work for a blizzard.
