We’ve been married almost two years, and while we rarely look at it any more, we pulled it out ALL the time our first year. Every time we had someone new over, we ended up looking at it (not that we pulled it out and shoved it in everyone’s faces, but rather, something about the wedding came up and we end up taking it out to show them what we were talkign about, and end up looking at the whole thing.) We would also look at it ourselves occasionally, as it always made both of us so happy to go through it! 🙂
Now, we didn’t get one of those $1000+ super-fancy pro albums, instead, I just made one that’s just a “photobook.” It’s really nice, and was about $100. We spent a lot on our photographer, and it seemed that was the best way to make good use of many of the pictures she took! We even ended up getting an identical one for both of our parents, and I think they liked that also, to show their friends.

Wait until you have kids/gran kids. That’s when the value of pulling out the album comes in.

I look at them online, and at the pictures we printed, way more than at the album. I’ve maybe looked at the album 3 times in the 3 years since we got married. I’m really glad we didn’t spring for the $$$ pro album – got a lovely photobook with a silk cover made from Photobook America.
I do still think that our photog was the best money we spent at the wedding, though. I just think albums are a bit of a waste.

@futuremrsk18: I bet you could do without the album. What is more important is getting all the digital rights to your own photos. You can always make the album yourself at a different time! Shutterfly does great ones!
We’re doing both a videographer and photographer too. And i’m psyched to have both ways to view memories. But I do know ill prob make my own album. 🙂

I’m not much of an album person, but I would love to have some of our pictures blown up or redone by an artist into a cool canvas painting and hung up in our future home, as well as smaller photos all around. I think we don’t print enough of our pictures and frame them and I want to capture the memories. Fiance is officially on board with my booking the photographer, we’ll just have to skimp somewhere else. I think he gets that it’s important to me and I think one day, he’ll realize the importance himself.
Thanks everyone who posted/participated!

Well we’re almost to a year, but I would definitely say I look at the digital images and the ones we framed waaaaay more often than the album. We just did books from Adoramapix and they turned out great, but it’s not something I pull out very often. And I’m a graphic artist so I would probably just be annoyed if I let my photographer design a fancy album, lol.

We keep ours in the living room. Also, it may be different since we’re just at 1.5 years, but I’d say maybe once every 2 months or so I actually look at it. That may change as it gets further and further in the past, though.

We didn’t get ours done until a year and a half after the wedding, so we’ve had it for about 6 months now. I think I’ve looked through it 3-4 times. But, it was one of those, 1) look through when we got it, 2) look through with some family, 3) one time I was cleaning and opened it up, 4) we moved, so I unpacked it and looked thorugh again
It’s sitting in our living room now. I definitely don’t regret getting it, but I don’t expect to look through it super often.

We’ve only been married for 8 months and recieved our album at about 6 months and I’ve looked at it quite a few times since we’ve had it, best day of my life!

I guess he meant the pictures in general, even if you don’t have it in an album.

@futuremrsk18: We have been married twice, a year apart We keep our album in our coffee table and we still look at it from time to time. First wedding was a courthouse wedding, our friend was our photographer and it was his gift to us. For our second wedding (traditional with family and friends), we went all out. We separately hired for photography and videography. And it was one of the best money we have ever spent on.
Here’s a link to the photos and I am sure you’ll agree that it is money well spent =) http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/two-weddings-one-man-pic-heavy#axzz2bnYkly21
