GroovyHippieChick:  I’m sure she meant married filing separately – that does result in a separate tax return for each of you, but there are a lot of differences between single and married filing separately.

mrsyeti:  Thank you for the advice. My Fiance pays a very well-respected professional for tax advice, though, so I’m sure they’ve got it covered.  Interestingly enough, my father is self-employed, has worked with a different CPA for 25 years and follows the same guidelines as my Fiance on expensing meals.

Foreverblonde345:  I haven’t fully read through the thread… but do you tax harvest your losses in your investable assets at the end of the year? That could help reduce your taxes some as long as you have non retirement assets…
