i dont know if i 100% regret it, but it irks me still.

I found a girl on instagram who lived local to me who did the cute wedding chalkboards, and i really wanted at least two for my wedding (1 for the church, and 1 for the reception/guestbook). They came out beautiful in every way.

however i left them in charge of my DH to drop off with the wedding coordinator so they could be placed, since i was busy getting ready early in the morning. But because DH got food poisioning the day before our wedding he had his groomsmen drop off all the stuff, and obvioulsy not knowing what the chalkboards were for, they got mixed up.

the guestbook one ended up in the church which made no sense. And the church one ended up as the welcome sign to the reception, which really wasnt too noticable since it could have worked well with both.

But it peeves me to this day, every time I look at our wedding photos of us in the church, cause that stupid guestbook sign is sitting in the corner in almost every photo.

Also i personally loved our favors, and we paid about $100 for them, but barely anyone took them home. In all honesty i would have just done no favors, and saved us $100 bucks.

I’m also commenting because I am interested in seeing what others say…

If I had to predict a regret it would be the invitations. I had a local designer do it. I actually can do graphic design myself and think I could have done a better and CHEAPER job – I just thought I was saving myself the effort.

It felt really important to me that we say vows while standing on the Earth rather than inside a building and then transition to this amazing funky art space I’d found in the city. We put down a deposit on a gorgeous park setting and only then did my Fiance get serious about crunching numbers and looking at total costs (I’d told him I was concerned about costs and he, very sweetly, kept telling me he wanted me to have my dream wedding but he wasn’t yet calculating what that totaled).

We ended up deciding to scrap the idea of having the ceremony for everyone in the park and just did a private pop up with us, our son and our photographer and then a larger ceremony and reception with guests at one venue. It was perfect and I’m really glad we did it- I just wish we’d gotten to the point where we made that plan before putting money down. We lost a portion of the deposit because of that.

No other regrets! We focused on our highest priorities and did really well overall avoiding budget creep and pinterest induced madness.

We went all out and regret nothing.  I wouldn’t have done anything different. smile

The cake. I’d have got a plain one from marks and Spencer’s and had some fresh flowers on top.

No regrets. But we were very conscious of our spending to begin with.

If I had to pick something it would be the candy bar. The guests loved it but the venue forgot to refill it throughout the night, so we had so much candy left over. (luckily it was around Halloween so we gave candy to family members to give out).

No regrets here either. We were careful to work out what mattered to us, and what didn’t matter so much, and allocate the budget accordingly. I also don’t think we overpaid for anything; I felt everything was fairly priced/good value.

No real regrets here! Only thing I would have changed is that I would have paid more attention to the items we were renting from our coordinator/planner. The whole rentals process was very loose so we didn’t have an itemized list or cost break down (prices were never even discussed) until after the event. Because we didn’t do this beforehand there were items rented that we already had and items that we really didn’t need or wouldn’t have wanted had we known the price.

Overall the wedding was gorgeous and I loved every second, but I do wish that I had found the brain-space to communicate more effectively with the coordinator about rentals. We ended up spending like $750 more than expected on decorative rental items yell

Flip flops! Bought way too many, they were a hit but wish i bought less. The cake was also too big but was gorgeous so a smaller one would have done or a fake tier or so.

Everything else… No regrets!

i regret NOT hiring a babysitter for my child DURING the wedding, she was here and there and i never saw her because family members took turns the whole day and i wish i got more moments aside from dinner with her.
