The only think I regret spending money on was the desert table…I went with the venue instead of researching local bakeries.  It was good but for the same price a local bakery would have done better.

My other regrets are for NOT spending money!  LOL, that would be a good spin-off.

Nothing really.  If it could have been cheaper for the same thing, that’d have been great… but there’s pretty much nothing I’d have preferred to have paid less and gotten less.

Except for the donuts as favors–we had so many of those leftover.  But that’s like a $50 mistake and we just brought them to our apartment complex the next day and put them out in the mail room and they were gone in a couple hours, so no harm done.

We did kid favours (boxed child-friendly candy) and adult favours (sparkling wine) but didn’t label it so ppl just grabbed whatever. That was a mistake. We had a fancy wedding and guests probably wondered why we were giving them ring pops and bubble gum!!

We also had amazing, super-fancy filled cupcakes that not enough people ate. We should have had take home boxes for them.

lightchaser :  what about posting on your local wedding fun page to sell? I see lots of fake flowers on mine and they get snapped up quick!

Guest courtesy buses. They were pricey, extremely difficult to organise, and guests were very painful to get to book their seat (we had a section on the RSVP as we had staggered times and didn’t want people to miss out). I feel for the $$ and hassle they weren’t appreciated. It’s not typical where I am anyway so if I had my time over everyone just could’ve gotten taxis like people usually do here

scissorgirl :  I was able to sell the sunflowers I used as ceremony decor on a local sales page, but the flowers used to decorate the reception area are really random colors and the stems have been cut super short to accommodate my vintage planters. They’re just not big sellers.

RobbieAndJuliahaha :  Me too!!! We spent the entire day before our wedding (from pre-dawn until Rehearsal Dinner) decorating our venue and setting up the tables, and it was soooooooooo exhausting! I barely remember the Rehearsal Dinner because I was so worn out! I wish I had hired some help, or rented the venue for an extra day to spread out the set-up. (It was only $250/day, so it would have been totally worth it to rent an extra day!)

My dress! If I could do it all over again, I would have looked at dresses for a few more months and purchased one for about half the price that was that was just very flattering and focused on the accessories!

kreeneth :  Yes, flip flops. I still have a basket of close to 20 downstairs in the basement. I worked so hard on them (not expensive just time) and even had my aunt help buy more and only like 2-3 people used them (but one was me so…). Makes me laugh!

I think my husband was happy with the favors, but I would have done something else probably in retrospect. I am sure most got thrown out. But he had this idea in his mind, so I let him run with it. Oh well.

Otherwise, nothing I can think of.

I wouldn’t have done favors…. didn’t cost much as it was just chocolate or mints in a little box by their plates, but don’t think it really made a bit impact on the wedding or people’s enjoyment… they all went though so its not like I had loads left over…

Wouldn’t have had my bridesmaid’s hair done… she hadn’t had a trial, her hair is tricky anyway, the updo they put it in fell down half way through the ceremony….

kellyrnh :  I’d love to hear more details about your wedding!!! We’re planning on having about 130-150 guests and we’re looking to cut costs. The food alone is looking to be about $5k (and that’s getting super creative with restaurant catering, providing the beer & wine ourselves, etc.)

I loved the whole wedding and reception…don’t regret that we picked an expensive venue but it was my dream and my husband saw it and loved it too. The only bummer was our contract with the hotel for room block. Had some last minute cancellations so we had to pay the unused rooms. Had I been more diligent and thought about it, would have set aside fewer rooms.

The cake. We had a dessert buffet that was so yummy no one wanted cake and since we had a Destination Wedding we ended up with so much cake left over. We were offering it to everyone at the hotel from cleaning staff to the gardeners. It was such a yummy cake as well.

Sidenote- the venue actually dropped our original cake about an hour before the wedding so their onsite bakery made us another one (I think they used a cake for someone the next day and remade it so they woukdn’t know). It was a beautiful cake just not what we ordered and they reimbursed us the cost of it so it isn’t the money I regret just the waste.
