I’m my sister’s MOH. I’m throwing her a shower with about 60 guests. There will be the obligatory snacks, lunch, punch, and gift-opening. Because my sister is one-in-a-million, I want to make sure she has a great day.
So, tell me- what was the best moment of your shower? What did the host do to really knock your socks off? Is there anything that happened that you would have liked to change?

I loved my shower. My bm and mil planned it mostly with some help from my other 2 local bm’s. The part I loved were the edible marhmallow centerpieces. They were so ingenious and I had never seen anything like it before. I also enjoyed the games (which I picked out). It was a great day filled with so much fun. We had about 20 adults and 16 or so kids. I Loved all my gifts as well.
One thing that surprised me was the recipe game one of my bms put together. She made this cute recipe envelope booklet and had everyone write down their favorite recipes then I had to read the recipes and guess who’s it was. So touching.

The element of surprise
My first Wedding (circa 1980) I had several Bridal Showers, and each of them were an unexpected surprise.
This time round, our Friends threw a Couples Party / Shower for Mr TTR & I … and we were totally caught off guard, it was fabulous !!
Being so loved is such a warm and wonderful feeling.

Just wanted to say that you sound like a wonderful sister :). I agrea that small surprises will make the day special for her. Don’t let her in on anything!

@bridalprincess: Those sound like great ideas- I love the recipe games!
This Time Round : Unfortunately my sister really dislikes surprises- in fact, I’m having a tough time not feeling like I have to run everything by her. As such, she is aware of the date/time/guest list, etc. This is why I’m trying to make up for the lack of surprises by doing some small gestures!
Thanks for the vote of confidence, WannaBeeMrsB. My sister deserves the best!

I had two, both my mom and mother-in-law insisted on throwing one for me. For the one with my mom, I love that all the important women in my life from up there were there. All three grandmas, my aunts, mama, my three sisters, and my two best friends from grade school and high school. For my one with my mother-in-law it was the time I got to spend bonding with Hubby’s mom and grandma.

I loved the way my mom setup the food and I loved how intimate my bridal shower was and I loved the games we played:

Hands-down it was receiving a bottle of champagne my DH had bought us for us ladies to enjoy, it was so sweet! Second to that was playing bridal mad libs and third was my MOH bringing me into the room to see how it came out with all the DIY decorations.
And last (not worst) was gift opening – I hate the awkwardness of reacting to gifts in front of other people!
