My fiance and I are giving our BFF a suite for their wedding night–which is in two weeks. They aren’t leaving for their honeymoon until two weeks after their wedding, so they were just planning on going home that night. We had hoped to make it a surprise and tell them in a card at their rehearsal dinner, but he mentioned randomly that he was probably going to book one himself, so we didn’t see any way around it and told him we were taking care of that as a gift. ANYWAY…I want to put together a little basket so they still have a little surprise, and also we arranged for room service to bring them breakfast.
So on your wedding night…what kind of goodies would you want in a basket that is waiting for you in your hotel suite? One thing that will definitely be in there is a short handwritten note with a P.S. breakfast has been arranged with the front desk, so call when you’re ready for your room service (not exact wording).
Important note: groom is 9 years sober so no alcohol, and I have no idea what their time frame will be for arriving. The reception is at 5, but it’s on his family’s farm so there isn’t a set end date like there is at a regular venue. Also, their bags will already be there, and we have made arrangements for their dress and tux already.
Thanks for any ideas you might have!

haha…no, seriously though.
Snacks, water, maybe some sparking cider for a fun drink to have, candles, chocolates. Super cute idea!

Our hotel set us up with some sparkling cider (neither of us drink), chocolates, some bubbles for the jacuzzi tub, and these adorable little guys. We absolutely loved it!
It’s so sweet of you to do this for your friend!

- Wedding: November 2011 - Florida Aquarium
For our wedding, my best friend did the same thing (really awesome gift, by the way). The bridal party asked the hotel staff for flameless candles (ya know, the batter operated kind?), and they had 10 on hand. So our suite was decorated with the flameless candles, flower petals leading from the door to the bed, and bubble bath in the bathtub (I wondered why my BFF just had to get to Bath and Body Works haha).
Additionally, they had snacks, bottles of water and soda, and candy. I do like the strawberries and whipped cream idea, too 🙂

@weddingnerd: Someone to get my out of my dress faster than Darling Husband so I could GO TO SLEEP.
Darling Husband stayed in the room the night before our wedding and got ready there before… it would have been nice if he’d let the maids come in to CLEAN *GRRR*
But other than that I didn’t feel like we needed anything. Maybe snacks 🙂

Aww you’re such a good friend! I say make sure there’s food in case they didn’t get a chance to eat.

@PacificMrs: Love those guys. We have a travel duck who comes on all our holidays with us….people got used to seeing him. Now we have a Team GB duck, duck soap, two flashing duck pirates, duck cakes, oh and some venetian glass ducks!
OP – what a lovely gift. Fiance is arranging our first night, im hoping he inlcudes chocolates, bubbles and maybe some mood music for a nice long shared bath in the morning.

Water and Snacks! We devoured the chocolate covered strawberries that were waiting for us. I would have loved some hot food, though! 🙂

I say no sexual stuff, most of the storied I’ve heard are: we way were too tired on our wedding night to have sex.
If it were me, I’d love to find:
something to drink, maybe like a fizzy juice since no alcohol?
couple of magazines

Depending on what shoes she’s wearing, possibly majorly fluffy slippers. My feet felt like they were on fire as soon as I took off the shoes.

Not married yet, but I hear bride & groom are usually starving after the reception so I’d say tons and tons of different snacks 🙂
Love your breakfast idea too! I’m sure they will love this gift 🙂

my mom’s aunt started a tradition of giving the bride and groom a wedding night gift basket and every couple always looked forward to receiving it on their wedding day. unfortunately, she passed away a few years ago, but her kids and my mom (who was very close to her) have continued the tradition 🙂
these are the things that were in our basket:
water bottles (they had little labels made with our picture on them)
little bottles of sparkling cider (dressed like a bride and groom, haha) w/ 2 glasses
wedding cake (we didn’t have time to eat the pieces that were served for us, so they took those off our plates and boxed them up)
cookies (milanos and chessman)
hand sanitizer/wet ones
paper plates/napkins/eating utensils
we had so much stuff that our wedding night gift basket became our moving day basket (we moved just a few days after our wedding).
my cousin put together separate basket for me that included “sensual” bath gel (every time i smell it now i think of my wedding night), comfy socks (i highly recommend this- they felt like heaven on my aching feet), a loofah, and candle/lighter.
