- Wedding: June 2014
My husband and I have been married for 15 yrs. At the time we got married, we’d just kind of decided to get married and we did. There was no proposal, no wedding dress, no reception… just my husband and I and a handful of family in my grandparents living room.
Growing up, I’d always wanted the traditional wedding…. church, gown, bridesmaids, reception, etc. I’ve been happily married for 15 yrs (as of later this year), but in the back of my mind, always longed for the actual wedding.
This Valentine’s Day (2013), my husband surprised me by getting down on one knee and proposing to me. He said he wanted to renew our vows and promise forever all over again and this time, do it the way that I had longed for…. (yep, he’s a keeper). 🙂
We live in St. Augustine and we’re planning to get married here. (With friends/family coming in from out of state).
Although I want to have an actual wedding this time (instead of just the legal ceremony), I don’t want to spend a good deal of savings or family money on it. I will spend enough to make it memorable, but, already being married, I am super frugal when it comes to spending money that our family could use for other things.
I’m looking for advice, I guess… from anyone who is getting married around here, to those recently did, or those who are renewing vows….
The reception space is the area I most want to decorate (and plan to do most of this myself). I’d like a space that won’t kill my budget and could accommodate approx 50 people. Ideally, just for cost-sake, if there’s a place where I could hold the ceremony and the reception both, that might be best.
Next year, I’ll turn 40 and I’ll also be marrying the man of my dreams… all over again…. I’m just looking for help and ways to not make mistakes and not spend money that’s not necessary…
