Im newly engaged to the most wonderful man ever. I am so proud of him for serving this country as an Army Soldier for the last twenty years. He has five more years before retirement. Im in the early stages of planning. We have a year. I want simple and uncomplicated as this is our second wedding. My first was a disaster and his was bridezilla on steroids.
I know we are going to have a small wedding with just immediate family and a few friends. I have decided on a lakeside wedding and he totally agrees with me. Its a special place to us because its where we would go on our date nights away from our children.
I have so many ideas in my head that I have started a book of ideas. Some I have already discarded and some I have held on too. Even though its early I feel overwhelmed with all the stuff thats out there. I asked him what he pictured in his mind when he imagined our wedding and his words were “you saying I do!!!” He really is a sweetheart. He did say I could have a big princess wedding if I wanted one, but I dont. I just want it to be a relaxing celebration of the love we have for each other and our kids.

@TexasSpringBride: An intimate lakeside wedding sounds really wonderful and special. You will have to keep us posted on some of the ideas you are tossing around.
I highly recommend reading the book “A Practical Wedding” by Meg Keene, which is all about trying to focus on what is really meaningful in a wedding and not get too stressed out by the rest. It made me feel MUCH less overwhelmed.
Thank you to your Fiance for his service to our country!
