MV is so wonderful for a honeymoon! We are getting married there this May. My fiance grew up vacationing there and it’s become one of my favorite places. Definitely stay at the Hob Knob. It’s a great boutique hotel.

You don’t need a car on the island but you might want one in order to fully explore (although you can always just rent one for a day or two if you wanted to do it that way). Restaurants we like include State Road for both brunch and dinners. I also like the brewery in Oak Bluffs for a more casual meal. Art Cliff Diner in Vineyard Haven is good for breakfast and we also just found the Little House Cafe, which is a great lunch spot.

You should make sure to stop by the MV Bakery in Oak Bluffs in the evening for “Back Door Donuts” they serve the best apple fritters out of their back door after hours. If you want a dive bar and very local experience, check out the Ritz Cafe in Oak Bluffs. If you get a chance, catch the Johnny Hoy band there, they are great (and our wedding band).

There’s a million things to do, all depending on your interest — shopping, kayaking, hiking, fishing, etc. It all depends on what you are interested in. You could definitely just relax in your hotel and enjoy exploring the island. You should make sure to go up to Acquinnah (also called Gay Head) for the views alone.

Okay, that was a little stream of consciousness but I hope it helps. Let me know if you have other questions.
