- Wedding: July 2011
My wedding was a little while ago, but I was doing some work with my photos recently and couldn’t help but think about how talented so many of my vendors were. So, I just wanted to mention the ones who went above-and-beyond for us in case it’s helpful to future brides starting the process of planning a Vineyard-wedding.
Harbor View Hotel – reception. Incredible professional staff, and the location is really convenient for guests staying in Edgartown. The food was outstanding and they were willing to work with us on everything (from incredibly specific dietary requests to working in our favorite flavors on the entrees). The staff rolled with the last minute changes our guests threw at us and made the day as stress-free as humanly possible. They are very, very busy – book a year ahead for wedding season – but the whole staff was so on-top of my wedding-day details and gave me so much of their time, I sometimes felt like I had to be their only bride that year (and yet I wasn’t even their only bride on the day of my wedding). I don’t know how they pulled it off, but I will be eternally grateful.
Flowers on the Vineyard. The bouquets were gorgeous. Louise spent a lot of time talking to me to get a sense of what I wanted (despite the fact that I know nothing about flowers), then came up with a floral scheme that was note-perfect and within budget. We didn’t spend a lot on flowers (just personals – no centerpieces), but that didn’t stop her from putting together a stunning seasonally-appropriate bouquet for me.
Cakes By Liz – The best wedding cake I’ve ever had. Really.
Seaside Celebrations – rentals. They set-up our beach ceremony (chairs, chuppa, audio equipment) and provided a tent for the reception (tent, tables, heaters). Their rentals are of excellent quality, they have a big selection and are reasonably priced, but again, it was the sterling customer service and willingness to work with us on a number of variables that makes me think of them so happily.
Chilmark Chocolates made the favor boxes we put in our guest gift bags and I’m pretty sure every single guest came up to me to rave about them.
While there are plenty of things I’d do differently if I had the chance to plan again, I would absolutely work with each of these vendors a second time.
