you and i may be the only ones!  that’s crazy with all the beautiful ML gowns out there!! but they are double the cost of the most popular Maggie’s so that could be the reason.  I originally budgeted 1,000 for dress…then I had a reality check when I went dress shopping and upped it to $2k. It ended up being $3400 after alterations and addition of different sash….and that was with a trunk show discount.  eek

@catalyst: agreed! I really liked some of the ML dresses but couldn’t honestly support spending that much money on something that required so many additions/changes etc to get what Maggie sold without any changes.

It just dpepends on how much you want to spend I suppose.

@Treejewel19: Because I worked in the industry for so many years, I was bent on finding something that I hadn’t seen before ๐Ÿ™‚  So many of my brides wore Maggies- I really thought I was going to end up with one too but I tried on several and none hit the mark for me.  I paid for my own dress so I didn’t feel too bad about going over budget!  I could never have justified it if someone else was buying the dress.

My alterations were $515 ๐Ÿ™ It had to be taken in at the waist, hemmed, and train cut off.  What are you trying to match to the belt? Jewelry?  The belt I got was $400 but I’m sure you could find a nice one for half that. I have a feeling the bridal store I went to marked everything up majorly.

I would go try some different belts on with the dress and take pics to compare side by side.  The current looks blends so much with your dress, it seems like you could get away with any kind of jewelry but if you want somethng that stands out more, i would def go w/ a blingier belt.

my dress came with a belt made of the same fabric.  the day i tried it on, they had me try both belts with it and I LOVED the bling belt BUT on the other hand, I didnt love the ties that hung down in the back from the belt. they were long and I didnt love the idea of a bow tied on the back of the dress or a knot. They told me they wouldn’t recommend sewing it into the dress and cutting it down.  So tht’s something to consider if yours doesnt have any ties in the back.

i think anything will match the belt!! i definitely wouldn’t limit your jewelry options ! ๐Ÿ™‚ That was definitely a hard decision to make. I shopped around online forever for accessories and perfect shoes.
