Welcome to the Hive!

That dress is amazing and not plain at all!  The details of the lace are just stunning and I think you picked a beautiful dress.

Agree! it is very beautiful, however if you are feeling like it is a bit plain, you could always consider adding a sash around the wait to add a little something/sparkle it up!

My dress is a martina liana! I just loved her designs. I have style 366.

Your dress is beautiful. If you want to add some sparkle, what about adding a crystal beaded sash?

I’m also a Martina bride and have dress 334. The dress you have chosen is stunning. I’ve found a pic of another bride who has added a sash, though I believe the dress is gorgeous without it and it looks a little busy with this sash, maybe something a bit smaller than this.

I can see your wedding date is coming up soon, so I’m sure you’ve decided whether or not to keep your dress by now.  I also ordered style 346 for my September wedding.  I’m having second thoughts myself, probably just because I ordered it so long ago and haven’t seen it in months…I’m sure I’ll fall back in love with it when I get it back.  Anyway, I’m not planning on doing a sash or anything, but I do have a picture (see below) that the lady helping me said I “had to try on with it” if this is at all helpful to you.  I’d love to see any pictures you have in the dress as well.  Thanks!

Here is a picture of me in the 346 with the sash I am going to wear. I love this sash, but I am going to have my grandma make it herself. It retails for $300. Yikes!

HI everyone! After trying on about 50 different dresses at 6 different salons (no joke…) I finally took a deep breath and said yes to Martina 346!! The lace on this dress is so beautiful it makes me want to cry (happy tears, of course!)..

Now that I have the dress ordered <phew!> I am working on accesories and I am stuck on veils.  Any suggestions on a veil for this dress?  I worry that a lace trim will overpower the lace on the dress, yet I love the lace trims I have been seeing.  I feel that something up around the top needs to counterbalance the trumpet silhouette.  I was thinking maybe a multilayered veil at fingertip or waltz length?

Also, is anyone else going to purchase/rent a mermaid/trumpet bridal slip for this dress? I ask because the dress looks nearly perfectly full in pictures on the ML website and the model appears to be in motion in the front facing picture. I wonder if they had the model in a slip.  Here is the link:

@lovelynan:  I also ordered this dress and had a difficult time picking a veil to go with it. I eventually decided on a veil with lace, but the lace work starts at my shoulders, so my face isn’t overwhelmed with lace. I think it really frames my face nicely. I don’t want to post any pictures of me in the dress until after the wedding, because I don’t want any one I know to somehow see me in it before the big day..but I wish I could show you beause it does look nice. The consultants at the boutique I bought the dress from told me I will not need a corset or slip with this dress, but told me if I wanted to I could wear spanx, which I am considering. I am going to buy some spanx and bring them to my first fitting to try on with the dress to see how I feel. I am hoping I won’t need spanx because I don’t want to be any hotter than I already will be in the dress alone, but we will see. I had wish I had known when I ordered the dress that you could also order it with a lace up/corset back, but I ordered the plain zipper back with buttons. Oh well!

@OneRareBurger:  Hi OneRareBurger! The ML line is extra nice bc they have the built in corset and slip.  The consultant also told me that I wouldnt need to wear anything but the dress, no slilp, bra, etc.  This is pretty cool, becuase it cuts down on the extra bridal accesories cost. However, I am still curious how the dress would look with a slip.  You’re right about this dress making you hot.  When I tried it on at the dress shop, I had sweat running down my legs (gross, i know) and when I mentioned it the consultant said that the 2nd floor of the builiding ran warm…lol…I was thinking, I wonder if my outdoor wedding in September will run warm too?!? Anyway, I love this dress so much, it didnt stop me!

Shapeware like spanx is a great idea. It gives that extra confidence boost and usually they are made of cooling, light weight materials that wick moisture off the body. I.E. I dont think it will make you any hotter.

I was also interseted in the lace up back but when I asked to see a picture of the dress in the laceup, my consultant couldn’t provide one…she even tried contacting ML for a pic…so I wasnt willing to go out on a limb and order without seeing it.

May I ask, what length of veil did you go with and how wide is the lace trim on your veil? Having the lace start at the shoulders is a good idea.

@lovelynan:  Oh my gosh I know! I am so nervous about being so hot! My wedding is in June in Tennessee. We are having it up on a mountain at sunset though so HOPEFULLY it won’t be horrible. To be safe, I ordered another dress to change into for the reception, which will also be outside. My fiancee and I love to dance salsa, merengue, bachata, etc. and I wanted to be able to move and enjoy the night. I orginally looked at ordering destination wedding dress as my reception dress, but they were still about $600-1200 dollars. So instead, I ordered a bridesmaids dress (not the same as my bridesmaids) in ivory for about $200. It is Jasmine Bridal B2078 in ivory…its pretty much the exact same thing as a destination dress but way less…I don’t understand lol. I guess because it has the word “bridesmaid” instead of “bride” attached to it the price went down. Its chiffon and flowy and cool, and I love it. I am wearing an embellished belt for the wedding with my Martina Liona. When the ML and the belt and the B2 come in I am going to see what the belt looks like with the B2 dress. I was orginally going to have the belt sown onto the ML dress, but am now thinking I could just take it off the ML after the wedding and then tie the belt around the B2 dress for the reception, so I still have a bit of my wedding dress with me during the recpetion. I am going to TRY not to change until later in the evening because I want to stay in my Martina Liana as long as possible because I love it so much, but I didn’t want to be miserably hot all night long either.

@OneRareBurger:  Oh! And my veil hits me at about my elbow. I wasn’t picky about the length but my mother was adament that I would not be comfortable in one longer because when you sit down with a longer veil you have to be very mindful of not sitting on the veil and it pulling you hair. We also thought that having a shorter veil would help me not feel as hot. I am getting very nervous about the weather…its been an unusually warm winter and spring here! AHH!

Yeah, I agree a veil is hard to wear with this dress.  I actually ended up ditching one altogether and going with this flower from a vendor on etsy instead.
