Wet and Wild H2O waterproof liquid eyeliner.

This stuff is da bomb and stays put even after a day in the ocean in Mexico.

Oh and did I mention it comes in tons of fab colours and is uber cheap???

Badgirl mascara – Benefit

This stuff makes me look like I have falsies. It’s not the cheapest but not the most expensive either.

Drawbacks: it dries out quickly and needs to be replaced about 6-8 weeks.  and I hear (I’ve never tried it) that the waterproof version sucks.

Oh and the huge brush takes a little getting use to but once you do, it’s a breeze.

Highly recommend!

ETA: the reviews are actually pretty good for the waterproof.

For eyeliner I always use a powder or cream with a brush applicator, I HATE liquid and I feel like sticks just look smudgey! Using an eye primer is definitely helpful for holding a powder on your lids for longer. I use all Mary Kay products as that’s my job so I wouldn’t have any brand suggestions for you other than that! Also for mascara I always recommend this tutorial to customers of mine with shorter lashes who struggle to keep them from clumping – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cByuzpdXA-o

in general mascara is a tricky operation, my best advice is to make sure your curl your eye lashes really well and try the card trick in that video! Also when buying waterproof mascara it’s important to really try the stuff out- if you do go into a department store and have them make you up bring a spritzer full of water and go to town testing just how waterproof the product really is!

Of course I always say talk to a Mary Kay lady- but what can I say, I’m bias! If you have aaany questions you can message me, I’ve done lots of wedding make up for brides or gotten them the make up and shown them how to do it themselves!

Bad Lash Girl (I think) from Benefit or MAC ZOOMLASH =) I always prefer waterproof! OH Elizabeth Arden has some KILLER mascara too! =)

Eyeliner I love Cream Liner by Smashbox in Caviar! But when at Target and need one, I always grab an Elf $1 Liquid Eyeliner or Liquid Eyeliner Pen! =)

I found a groupon for eyelash extensions in our town before our wedding and decided to give it a shot….best. plan. ever.  I had never done that before and not sure I’d shell out money for them again (the cheaper ones you see advertised at salons can look a little fake from some angles) but for our wedding day, it was amazing.  I woke up looking like I had amazing eye makeup on for weeks and I didn’t have to worry about anything melting on the big day.  Just a thought!

I’ve decided to do my own makeup too (similar reasons!).  I’d suggest trying a lid primer. I started using Urban Decay’s lid primer (got it at Sephora) and it’s made a huge difference – my eyeshadow and eyeliner seems to stay in place now, and doesn’t crease or smudge like it used to. I bought it for “special occasions” and thought I’d only wear it for nights out when I went with dark makeup, but now I use it every day because it makes my lids look smooth and it means I don’t end up with creases in my shadow or thick/smudged liner at the end of the day. I’ve even slept in my makeup and it looks the same in the morning!

Thanks for posting your question – I was looking for waterproof eyeliner suggestions too!

Hands down the ONLY truly smudge proof liner is Estee Lauder Double Wear gel liner…

http://www.esteelauder.com/product/635/13704/Product-Catalog/Makeup/Eyes/Eyeliners/Double-Wear/Stay-in-Place-Gel-Eyeliner/index.tmpl

I couldn’t get this stuff off my eyes for days after my wedding!  I also used the Double Wear Shadow… and loved it!

If you run a q-tip over your inner lid, you can use it there as well and it won’t move… amazing stuff.

@Oneeleven: Thanks so much for your recommendations! I bought Wet n Wild’s H20 liner today, and it stayed on without smudging all day! I washed my face with water to see how it (and my mascara) held up, and even after being wet for a few minutes, my makeup looked just as good as when I first put it on! After having a few major wedding-related things go wrong this week, it’s nice to have this go so well!

Thanks again!

I’ll let others recommend the mascara (I still haven’t found the perfect one) BUT

when it comes to eyeliner, I 100% recommend the MAC little glass mini bottle of eyeliner- you dap a thin slanted brush inside the tiny glass container and slide it across the eyelid.

It is SO easy and the results look professional.

@OKbride2b: Benefit Bad Gal mascara or Benefit They’re Real – and the MAC liner recommended above is called fluid line.  As a warning about fluid line … it’s only waterproof on some people and if you have semi-oily lids then I’d recommend against it.  The Mac Liner brush is bad ass though it’s number is 265.  I’d highly recommend http://www.shuuemura-usa.com/_us/_en/makeup/eye-liner/painting-gel-eyeliner.htm
