Were planning on getting married next April 2013. Our colors are red white and black. The wedding is at night indoors and were only serving hordourves. Beer and wine only. Its gonna be more like a cocktail party then an actual seated wedding. Last year we were gonna get married Sept 23 2011 But my grandfather fell sick and we canceled the wedding. My grandpa ended up pasting away Sept 25 2012. We were very close so i want to incorporate him in my wedding. He was a farmer fisherman hunter an all around county guy. When i think of mason jars i think of him so i was thinking a cute way to include him would be to use mason jars as the guest drinking glasses and favor to take home!! We would have extra glasses for water etc.. I know its really not in my theme but how do you think it would look??? And anyone have a cute saying i could write on a sign??

I liek the pic posted. To incorporate the red you could use red ribbon to tie around the jars, or ordedr red and white striped straws.

i love the story of the mason jars and your grandfather. my condolences btw. however, if i was going to a cocktail party, i would find it odd to drink out of a mason jar. wine in a mason jar, i don’t think so. it’s really not romantic.
i think it would be better to incorporate the mason jars some other way. use them as part of your take home favours. perhaps some homemade jelly, hot chocolate mix, chocolate chip cookie recipe mix or use them to fill up at a candy bar.
i would tie a note around the jars with a short poem as to why these jars mean so much to you and the memory or your grandfather.

I think it’s a great idea, but it doesn’t sound like it goes with your theme at all. Maybe you could look up something to do with mason jars for the favor.
Maybe do a dessert like cake or candy in a jar? That could still stick with the red theme a little?
I love @mypinkshoes‘s idea to use them to fill up at a candy bar as well! You could have all different types of red/pink/white candies!
I also agree that the note on the jar or a sign at the table explaining what it means to you is a great way to encorporate it into the wedding, if people understand why you’re using them then it will also tie in better.
