I’m new at the boards, so forgive me if I’m being completely redundant.
I’ve fallen into the trap of looking for dresses… even after putting a down payment on one!
Here is the dress I have a deposit on. We’re getting married in Mexico in an old Hacienda, and I thought this had such a lovely old-world Mexican vibe. The best part was that I got it at the end of the season, so it was on sale and only $1,500. I had originally budgeted $3,500 for my dress.
Then along comes Christos to ruin my happiness:
Am I crazy to even be thinking about another dress? I’ve made an appointment at the Amsale flagship here in NYC to try it on. I figure I have to know, right?

Desiree is my dress! I think your first dress is very pretty and definitely fits the vibe you’re going for, but I totally know the allure of Desiree! I actually had a couple dreams about her before I knew if I could order her or not…
Sorry I’m not much help, but I’d say at least go try it on… you don’t want to be wondering the week before your wedding if you picked the wrong dress!

I am the WORST when it comes to these dress dilemma issues. I can’t tell you not to look, because I did. I ended up getting a different dress. So don’t go unless you’re ok with falling in love with the other dress and buying it. And, if I’m being honest- I like both dresses but the second one is crazy pretty! Sorry! I’m no help at all!

Personally, I wouldn’t try it on unless you’re completely ok with losing your deposit on the first dress. I was silly enough to continue trying on some dresses after purchasing, and it just left me with doubts. Eventually I cast all my doubts aside and am once again in love with my dress.
And, as stunning as the Cristos is, I think that the first one is much, much more suitable for your Mexican wedding.

The second one is beautiful, but your original dress is much more fitting for the location

Love, love, LOVE your first dress! The second is pretty, but not as appropriate for your venue. Think of all the great pictures you can take with the first dress waving a fancy fan like a flamenco dancer!

Go with the first dress – it’s perfect!

I would say if you can afford to lose your deposit on the first dress and also buy the christos, go for it. I would hate to have dress regrets leading up to the wedding – but the dress is a high priority for me, it might not be for others. Personally, I wouldn’t really think too much about your dress “matching” your location – I mean, it’s a wedding, not a costume party, and the most important is for you to feel amazing. GL and keep us posted!

Thanks for all the input everyone! I think I’m going to go ahead and try on the Christos Desiree and see where it takes me. The folks at Amsale were lovely and told me they’re having a sample sale on the 23rd of this month- so who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky and she’ll be on sale.
I’m okay with losing the deposit, I’m not okay with feeling less than thrilled with my decision once the day rolls around.
Lately I’ve been feeling the crunch to lose some excess pounds too, so that may be fueling this debate. I feel like I definitely can’t wear that first dress with any kind of tummy happening, and that’s a lot of pressure! As shallow as it sounds, it’s a concern. :/

Ur first dress is beautiful and it is better fitted and shows more curves personally i love the 1st dress. But again it is U who have to be in love with ur dress. As other bees mentioned do try it on BUT be prepared to fall in love and ending up with 2 dresses 🙂
Did the first dress gave u that special feelings when u tried it on?

The first dress is mature and sexy and exotic. The second dress with its polka dots, I’m sorry but looks a little too adolescent to me. Also this dress and the Amsale Tyler, I’ve probably seen more than any other dress on the boards, so I feel they’ve been done to death. Definitely do try it on if that’s what you like more, but I wouldn’t doubt that first dress, it’s gorgeous.

the christos dress is spectacular, no doubt, but there are many amazing dresses out there! don’t let these derail you from your original choice which in my opinion is lovely and perfectly fitting of the vibe you’re going for! i may be biased though, my dress also has a ruffled skirt 🙂 good luck!

The first one is STUNNING!

The dress you originally purchased is beautiful! I really really like it! I don’t think you need to give it up for the Christos. However, if you have your heart set on trying on the Christos, go for it. And should you decide that the Christos the dress you’d prefer, you can always sell the first one. Although I don’t know if you’ll get the full value back. Good luck!

I prefer your first dress to the second one, but the important thing is that you love it. Since you were under budget with your original dress purchase, maybe you can risk it and try on the second one. Just don’t do it if you’re not prepared financially to change your dress.
