aa78912 :  if you guys are cheesy and punny then have the match boxes even if they’re tacky! Your mum already had her wedding.  Life doesn’t have to be too serious.

I would happily take them as favors.

AnonBee2019 :  We call them “stubby holders” and while I didn’t do favors, I LOVE when other people have stubby holders as their favors.  Can never have too much and I enjoy reminiscing on the event when I pull one out.  So it would have been a big win for me and my crowd 🙂

OP, I also love the idea of matchboxes, and would definitely grab a box to keep in my kitchen.

FWIW I’m not a huge fan of edible favours as they are often delicate to take home, or not to my taste.

    aa78912 :

Matches. I don’t understand, who uses matches these days? But if you think it’s fun, why not, it’s your wedding after all,

I don’t think they’re tacky but I honestly can’t think of anyone who uses matches over a lighter.

mrs2b70 :  this is exactly what we did too. We had a bunch leftover but I’m still using them at least! Also at a friend’s bridal shower a family friend included one of the matchbooks left over from HER wedding 30+ years earlier. They still worked and it was a cute little add-on to the gift. If I still have some when my friends’ kids are getting married I’m totally copying her.

    It’s too outdated to me.
