I met FH on Match.com last year 🙂 He was divorced and had just started dating. I was also just getting back into the dating scene. I can’t even really say i was ready to start dating, but I had not been out in MONTHS, so I started looking on Match. One day, he popped up as one of my “Five Favorites”, a little showcase of men that the matchmakers (ok, I know it’s a computer program, but I prefer to think of little Yentas running around comparing notes with one another!) think is a good fit for you. I really, really liked his profile and he was awfully cute in his Nantucket Red pants at a party in Newport where his profile picture was taken. So, I winked. And I waited, maybe a day, and he e-mailed me. We e-mailed for about a week, and made a date. One itsy-bitsy little piece of information he didn’t have about me: I never posted, or sent him, a picture of me. How’s that for blind faith!
The rest, as they say, is history. He proposed in July and we are getting married in September, 2012!
Now, whenever a Match.com commercial comes on, we just laugh and say “thanks, Match!”
So tell me, what is your Match.com story and would you ever be in one of their commercials?

I was not a Match.com story but my mom and my stepdad met on Match.com and I think it’s awesome. Neither of them is the type to go out to bars to meet strangers (and when you meet someone at a bar, the only thing you really know about them is that they like to drink!). My mom had been divorced from my dad for about 3 years and my stepdad was 42 and never married. They hit it off right away–we all met him in October of 1997, we spent Thanksgiving with his family in NJ, Xmas with his parents in FL (our fam is all local so he got to meet them right away), and they were married in August 1998. I can say my mom is truly happy and he’s just a great father figure, role model, and husband.
Congratulations on finding love online!

I was not on Match.com but I met my man from Plentyoffish.com which is another dating website the only difference is that this one is for free which was a double plus for both of us.
He found me on there one day and we just started talking randomly because we both really liked each others pictures and profiles. Also I mean when you find a guy who loves cats as much as you do you don’t want to let them go. We talked for about a year from time to time just random things and random thoughts. Until finally I was graduating from school and I took him up on an offer for a date. We met up on a pretty June day.
We bar hoped and just talked for hours. Ever since then things went on and on and all great fantastic days we spent together until one day he proposed.
I never dis dating sites because you can meet your match you just have to be willing to give it time and never give up.
