My coworker just told me today that Pea in the Pod is having a huge clearance sale — maybe that would work? She’s also had good luck at Old Navy.

I don’t know how far along you are but I am 19 weeks and most of my empire waist dresses that aren’t maternity fit just fine. (I don’t fit in any pants though.) You might be able to find some cheap non-maternity dresses at Target or even a second hand shop.  Also Target had some cute maternity dresses today when I went there 🙂

You might also look at the nicer resale shops in the area…I’ve had great success finding high-quality brands in good condition!

I’d check out the clearance at Pea in the Pod. If you have a Destination Maternity in your area, they will carry Pea in the Pod, Motherhood, Jessica Simpson, and Heidi Klum. YOu can wear maternity clothes for the entire pregnancy and a few weeks post partum, so you should just go ahead and get some slacks now. The Motherhood ones are pretty cheap. I’d then get two or three dresses.

I think dresses are the best option. You will get the longest wear out of them.

Target and JCPenny have some affordable options.

Have you ever heard of asos.com , I think you guys have it in the US, their maternity wear is really good quality and affordable, with my first I lived in sweater dresses- I alway thought they looked dressy enough for occassions!!

@nikkialys:  I’m 24 weeks now with a pretty large looking bump, and today I bought a couple of sweater dresses in the regular clothes section that fit great still, and I expect will for a while more. Because the bump can make dresses pull up a bit shorter, I will be wearing them with tights but that should look good for fall. So don’t feel compelled to stick to maternity only if your bump isn’t so big yet.

Oh – and I got them at Ros (like a Marshall’s). One was Calvin Klein for $40 and the other was from the juniors department for less than $20.

You should try the website It’s A Miracle Maternity.  I bought a bunch of high quality maternity clothes for really cheap.

Try Kohls.  I have bought a few dresses from there and if you watch for a sale or coupon you can get them really cheap.  I bought a solid black cotton dress for $5.00!!! Because it was on sale and I had a coupon.  I can easily dress it up with a jewelry etc.

Also check out non-maternity sections because some dresses work too.
