Unfortunately, I think everyone is different. I’m 5’6″, 133 before TTC, and at 17 weeks, I don’t think anyone could tell I was pregnant. BUT at 19 weeks, it was obvious. I’m headed to a wedding next week at 25 weeks and bought a dress I bought to make me look pregnant instead of fat (though not a maternity dress), because the style of dress I already owned (I’m fashion-challenged, so I don’t know what it’s called), just made me look fat. If you can stand it, I’d wait until maybe 15 weeks and see where you’re at.

I just attended a wedding at 28w (170lbs, 140lbs pre-preggo) and wore a (stretchy!) non-maternity dress, I think it looked better this time I wore it then it did when I wasn’t preggo!

Depends on the type of dress, and of course we all wear pregnancy very differently, have fun! I have worn three non-preggo dresses (all stretchy!) to three weddings so far this summer, I have another coming at 31w, 37w, and 39w (YIKES!)

thats tough! I’m 17 weeks and I think i could still pull off regular clothes as long as its a stretchy fabric. Everyone is different but I definitely have a belly! there is not hiding that haha.

I’d look for a good stretchy dress or maybe a wrap dress?

There was just a post asking for 17 weeks pictures. Maybe try to find that and you can get an idea of how different people look at 17 weeks. At 17 weeks I was just starting to show and some people could tell it was pregnant, not a a chubby belly. At 19 weeks with #3 I still wear mostly non maternity clothes.

i second finding a stretchy dress – maybe one with an empire waist? at 17 weeks, i didn’t necessarily look pregnant, but normal clothes weren’t that flattering on me either. i think target has a pretty good selection of dresses like that, which won’t break the bank. i bought two dresses from there and i could just about live in them.

i am 21 weeks and still not in maternity clothes. it depends on how you feel in what you are wearing and what makes you feel comfortable.

Everyone is different and it also depends on whether it’s your first or subsequent (most tend to show earlier with second, third, fourth…pregnancies than they did during their first.)  I would wait until you’re closer to buy something so you have a better idea of how much you will be showing.  Maybe at 14 or 15 weeks?

i’m 16w and would be able to wear many of my dresses still, but would definitely be strategic about which one i wore!

I’ll be 17w6d at my best friends wedding and I’m part of the bridal party. I ended up buying a dress a size up just to play it safe, but from the way my family is, you don’t really show until a bit after.

Old Navy has a great affordable Maternity section.

I saw this Maxi dress on someone, it looked lovely on her!
