I have shorts that are like yoga shorts and they have a fold over band. They were from Walmart of all places and were $4. I bought them one size up from pre pregnancy size and I don’t fold the band down. It’s like having maternity pants with the over-tummy material! They stay in place better that way. I’m sure maternity gym clothes would be better quality, but for $4 you can not wear them ever again and not feel guilty about cost!  I bought a few pairs and can wear them post partum easily too and fold the band back down.

A friend of mine told me regular gym clothes would work if I just didn’t go over the belly…. not in my case! I’m begining to think she did not workout in the third trimester because it’s so unconfortable (at least on me) The only kind of regular pants that work for me are this kind of foldover pants and shorts… they are super comfy, not snugg at all, even regular pre pregnancy size

Old navy has some pretty good cheap ones that I fit in through term! Loved it!

I wore my gap fit gym clothes my whole pregnancy. The tshirts were awesome – stretched out to fit a 39 week belly and look perfectly normal and unstretched after!

However, if you want actual maternity, gap and old navy both have some 🙂

Target’s Liz Lange line has inexpensive maternity workout gear. My daughter’s 18 months and I still wear my yoga pants, since it’s not obvious they’re maternity.

I got maternity pants, tanks tops,  and one long shirt all from the gap online. I have worn all except the pants while not pregnant as well. I love my long sleeved top for running

SouthernBee00:  yeah, I didn’t get any shorts.  I was due in April so I really didn’t have any need for shorts.  If you can’t find any maternity I would just buy a cheap $10 pair in a bigger size and put it under your belly.

I bought gapfit maternity clothes – I love their stuff non-pregnancy – I have the maternity compression pants and the waistband feels a little constricting during yoga class. I stopped putting them in the dryer to see if that will help. Otherwise, I’m using my other “normal” yoga pants that tend to be forgiving in the waist or are foldover tops (I’m 19w). I’m not sure if I’ll be able to wear the gap maternity compression pants into the 3rd trimester (which I’m pretty bummed about, but maybe they’ll actually feel better as my bump actually takes it’s shape).

SouthernBee00:  I never needed shorts either; by the time I got bigger, it was fall and my capris worked fine.  If you can find something a size or two up with a foldover waistband, that’ll probably work for the majority of the time though.  I wore my yoga pants (non-maternity) with a foldover top for probably 8 out of 9 months, and by the end the problem was more thighs than belly lol.

i found some comfy loungy shorts at walmart believe it or not – only $7!  They arent specifically for working out, but great for relaxing.  I just went a size or 2 up so I have room to grow into them this summer.  They have a thicker really stretchy waist band that works for now on my bloated belly, but should last a while (or can be worn under the bump later).  For actual workout gear, i have always loved stuff from old navy.  It lasts just as well if not better than more expensive brands, and is much more wallet friendly. Good stretch too!
