Hope everyone’s enjoying their weekend! It’s cold here in Canada.
I am looking for a good pair of maternity jean. Where do Canadian bees shop your maternity clothes? I was at the mall earlier and saw Thyme Maternity. Looks like they have good and reasonal priced jeans, around $55/pair. Anyone has shopped there before? I haven’t tried anything in this store.
I was in a nice boutique maternity shop (Toronto) few weeks back. I tried on their jeans which were really comfy and stylish but i was so shocked to see their price tag, $300/pair. I can buy a new maternity wardrobe with that money lol.
Any suggestions are appreciated bees! Also, do you think i should go with the low panel or high panel jeans? I wear skinny dark wash or black jean (currently with a belly band for comfort) to work. My office is pretty laid back and casual so i will be wearing the jean pretty much every day. Oh and i’m 2 days away from being 13 wks pregnant.

For reference, these jeans are from Thyme.
This was the expensive jean I tried few weeks back in a Toronto boutique shop. Crazy expensive! This shop carries high end and stylish pieces.

Macy’s ships to Canada and carries the Jessica Simpson maternity line, which I’m obsessed with! I have two pairs of jeans from that line, around $50-$60, and lots of cute blouses. I’m a teacher so I have to look polished on the daily and this line works great for me.

I had such a hard time finding pants (I needed tall, and I am about 16 so sometimes regular fits, sometimes it doesn’t, depends on the store). I tried old navy online, I tried thyme, I tried motherhood maternity and I tried a few random other stores as well. I ended up with a pair of jeans and a pair of black pants from motherhood maternity which combined set me back about $100 (after BOGO 50% I think?). I was really not impressed with that price, for pants I would be wearing not even half a year, lol. But, they were the best I could find and are in good enough shape for another pregnancy down the road if needed.
I went with the full band, As i really had no choice if I wanted the pants that fit properly. I don’t mind it though and was so so so happy to not have to use my belly band anymore!
Fwiw I ended up with mostly old navy maternity shirts or just bigger sizes in regular type sweaters which helped trimmed spending on the rest of my wardrobe.

I’ve shopped at both Thyme and Motherhood Maternity and both have good quality clothes for an affordable price. I bought a pair of black stretchy pants that I wore 6 months PP. Definitely got my money’s worth. I wouldn’t recommend ordering online as everything fits differently than you would think. Another cheap option is Kijiji. People will sell tubs full of clothes for cheap and they usually look new because they’ve only been worn for 6-12 months.

I am from Canada and I just went to Old Navy and got a pair of dark wash skinny jeans for under $20! I also got a pair of jeggings from Target also under $20, too bad Target is gone now. For me I couldn’t justify spending a lot of money on something that I am only going to wear for a little while.

No suggestions on retailers since im not in Canada but HIGH PANEL! I got the low panel ones and they were super uncomfortable by my 3rd trimester and had to resort to leggings most days :/

High panel! They are just way more comfortable.
I’m in Canada as well and bought nice jeans at both Thyme and Motherhood maternity. Just as a tip – I found much better deals (especially at Mothe hood) when I purchased things online. I also bought some maternity stuff on Zulily (Pink Blush brand) that was nice.

Yes! The Jessica Simpson jeans are amazing. So soft and comfortable. I already want to keep wearing them after I give birth.

I’m not in Canada, but I actually started a thread a couple of months ago about maternity jeans and there were some good suggestions.
I have a pair of Gap skinny jeans that just have the side panels and I ended up buying a pair of designer jeans (citizens of humanity) at Pea in the Pod when I had a 50% of coupon. I wear the citizens of humanity jeans all the time. I like the Gap ones, but they’re so dark that they get blue dye on my hands and on light colored boots. The COH ones have a full panel, but I actually would have prefered a half panel. Personally, I hate wearing full panel pants (I’m 31 weeks), because the fabric bothers my skin. That said, if that’s not an issue for you, you’d probably be more comfortable in full panel later in pregnancy. You can always fold the panel down too which I do a lot.
I honestly recommend investing a good quality pair of jeans. It’s just more comfortable and flattering. Also, your body type will definitely play a part. I’m a size 0 before pregnancy and a lot of maternity jeans were too big for me.

disclaimer: not from Canada
if you have h&m they are good 😉

Not from Canada, but Gap, Old Navy and H&M have been my go-to. I found some Citizens jeans at a consignment shop for like $20 too. I’m only 24 weeks, but I much prefer the low ones with the stretchy side panel. The high panel ones just don’t fit and always feel itchy to me, maybe I’ll like them when I’m further along but right now I’m not a fan.

In Calgary, and I posted on the other thread about this a couple weeks ago.
I went with AE maternity jeans. These are the same brand that I wear when not pregnant, and they were the only ones that fit me properly. They were regular $260 but I had a 50% off coupon for Destination Maternity, which is where I bought them. Thyme clothes in general tend to be too big and ill-fitting on me. I love these jeans though and will only have this pair through this and subsequent pregnancies, unless my size changes significantly.
