Does your job have a supplier / company they want you to go through, or do they just care about the color?

thefuturemrsD :  can you just order men’s sizes, or larger women’s sizes?

thefuturemrsD :  surely you’re not the first pregnant woman to work there? Or are these specific scrubs new or something? If possible I’d ask people who have been pregnant at your hospital what they did about scrubs. Or just ask your boss what you should do.

thefuturemrsD :  When I had my last son I was still in school and we had to wear a specific color that was hard to find. I ended up just sizing up in the shirt and pants and not tying the pants at all haha. It wasn’t the best but it got me through the last few months of pregnancy.

thefuturemrsD :  Would they allow a vest or lab coat possibly (with a regular maternity top underneath)? Also, even though I went through lots of bloating and now have a real bump at 22 weeks, I can (for the most part) tie my scrub pants under the bump and tuck in a tank top to keep them from slipping.

I’m operating all day so I’m in OR scrubs which are unisex and terrible. I ended up using a Belly Band and wearing the scrubs untied under my bump until the very end where I had to size up.

Most pregnant nurses I see wear a regular maternity top with a scrub jacket.

I wear scrubs all day every day at work – just ordered regular tops in medium instead of small and I’m still in them at 28 weeks pregnant, no maternity scrubs needed.

Could you not just order a size up or a men’s top?

Many of the pregnant people at my hospital bought a solid maternity top (like a fitted tshirt style) and wore a scrub jacket over it. That might be easier than finding a top? You could wear the jacket open.

thefuturemrsD :  I’d take it to HR… if they are requiring you wear it, then they are obligated to find something feasible to wear or permit an alternative.  And that does not mean putting yourself in a large, seafoam sack for the next few months because bigger sizes are good enough.  If nothing else, I’d expect them to reimburse me for tailoring down the larger sized tops to suit my needs without my looking like a slob, or let me wear something else.
