HAHAHA. I wear DH’s shirts around the house, but I did go maternity clothes shopping. I can’t fit into ANY of my old clothes. I had to go shopping at 12 weeks. I got a pair of pants at 8 weeks too…but I was so nauseated that I had to have something that would fit without making me feel more sick. I feel HOT in my maternity clothes. I like the tees with the side rouching…much more forgiving style. ๐Ÿ™‚ I remember feeling like you though, I felt fat in them at first too. But Darling Husband kept telling me how good I looked and I guess that was just the encouragement and self-esteem booster I needed. Shop Motherhood Maternity, you can go to their site. They seem to be pretty reasonable and usually have good deals. ๐Ÿ™‚

i love the shirts with side rouching too!! they are so comfy & are very flattering.

I went clothes shopping pretty early as well. I got jeans and a couple of regular tshirts at about 8 weeks. At that point, my clothes were just too uncomfortable and the maternity pants felt amazing. The shirts were a little big but now they fit fine. I’m almost 21 weeks and everything i got still fits. I still have plenty of room to grow too. I’ve made my fair share of trips to Motherhood, but I feel like everything I’ve gotten so far will last throughout my pregnancy. It does get expensive but, like @Miss Lily said, they always have great deals going. I’ve also found lots of cute stuff on the clearance racks.

@firsttimemom: I know someone who went to Urban Outfitters and got a long tunic. She paired it with leggings and boots. She looked great! You could always go that route too.

I’m thinking of hitting up H&M, they have some regular styles that should work as maternity!

I’m wearing MotherHood slacks today, my office pants don’t fit anymore, damn zippers!  I’m only 15 weeks as well.  I love Ebay, I’ve gotten a pair of Citizen Jeans and Seven Jeans for under $30 each, LOVE!!!

Longer shirts are wonderful.  I was in them way before I switched to maternity pants (which I still hate wearing).  The side rouching is awesome and the extra length is flattering, I felt way better in the longer shirts.  I still wear a lot of my regular shirts that have a bit more length in them (I also learned that I tend to buy my clothes a bit larger than necessary since too many fit for my 36th week).

I finally gave into to maternity pants at about 14 weeks.  I have a few regular shirts that are long enough to wear over maternity pants.  But last Monday, I had to give in and wear a maternity shirt to work.  And even though it was a really cute outfit that I got compliments on, I started crying before I even left the house.  So yeah.  I totally get where you’re coming from!

i echo others’ love of long tunic-like shirts with rouching! i agree that traditional maternity shirts make me feel and look fat..its not just in my head and i’m not being self conscious! i’ve pretty much ditched most of my lounge tops and hoodies for my husband’s… it’s just hard to find tops that look cute before you get really big. target has some pretty cute spring/summer tops that are casual enough for the weekend but also nice enough to wear under a cardigan with work slacks during the week.

A couple of girls I know also went to Ross and bought dresses a size or 2 larger than their original size. Another girl I know went to Old Navy and bought one of the floor- length dresses. I’m not much for dresses and I actually feel weird wearing them. I am way more into wearing a t-shirt and jeans. ๐Ÿ™‚

Target has these amazing microfiber long tanks. Seriously, I’ve already bought three. They’re stretchy without ribbing (so you don’t see pulling), they’re incredibly comfy, and super cute. Go pick up a few!
