Just ask the bride if she wants you to do a toast! I’ve gone before the Best Man usually but I don’t think there’s a rule? I’ve done 2 MOH toasts, and usually try to follow kind of a template when I write it out for myself. I stick to less than 1 page typed so it’s not too long!

Section 1: Introduce myself and say how I know the bride/talk up how great she is

Section 2: How she met the groom, what I thought when I met him, and how great their relationship is/how perfect they are together

Section 3: In the past, I have ended with a nice quote about marriage, and then briefly toast or cheers to the couple.

Obviously each section is totally individualized around the bride, but this kind of “template” has helped me make something that flowed naturally!

Second pp above . Most of all,  keep it short and unless you are dead sure of yourself and your  audience , be careful with humour, esp of the sexy kind.

At the handful of weddings I have attended, and the one where I was maid of honor, the MOH went first to begin the toasts. I also agree with what PP said perfectly! I just wanted to give you a heads up that you should be prepared to go first! 🙂

I like what PP suggested. It’s short and sweet. I think I will adapt what I have by adding some of what PP suggested. This is the original one that I was going to share with my MOH – might be useful for some brides:

  1. Introduce yourself
  2. How you know the bride and how long you have been friends
  3. Talk about bride (what you love most about the bride, maybe a funny story)
  4. Talk about groom (what you love about the groom, how he treats the bride)
  5. Talk about couple (how you knew he was “the one” for her, funny or romantic story about bride and groom)
  6. Raise a glass + congratulations and well wishes for the couple
