im in having a matron and maid of honor.
which one should stand next to me during the ceremony? Can I change this?
Can an I get our fathers to sign the certificate instead of best man and matRon/maid?
Does the matron have to be paired with best man?
Thanks in advance

I’m not aware of a rule of who stands next to you. I’m having two Maid/Matron of Honor. My married sister is Matron and is standing next to me. My unmarried sister, the Maid, is standing next to the Matronly one. It’s birth order…. keeping it simple.

for us, only the officiant and bride and groom sign the certificate. we are also jewish, and had our best man and Maid/Matron of Honor sign our ketubbah as witnesses because that required non-blood relatives.
you can pair who ever you want with whoever. who ever you want standing next to you at the ceremony is who you should have standing next to you.

I also had a maid and matron of honor, my matron of honor is my best friend and she stood next to me. My maid of honor is a close cousin and she stood next to the matron of honor. I had 5 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen in the wedding so we had the best man escort both the maid and matron of honor down the aisle. My matron of honor also signed the marriage license, but anyone can do it. If you want your fathers to be the ones to sign I don’t think that would be a problem just make sure it’s clear to everyone beforehand. Our officiant just immediately after the ceremony called over the best man and matron of honor to sign. So if you don’t specify otherwise they might just assume.

Matron is like the worst word ever. That’s my helpful advice.
