Thanks for all your help bees! Here is my reception wedding recap!
Having had a private family ceremony a few days before, we wanted our reception to be extra special for all our wonderful guests to enjoy. Coastal vintage romance was our theme and Melissa’s event designing skills did not disappoint! Pele’s Hair, air plants, dahlias, and anemones, arranged in apothecary jars alongside vintage ocean treasures made for a very elegant and beautiful event. Sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean greeted our guests from every vantage point and made for a stunning backdrop. Transforming my husband’s family home into a reception event fit for 150 guests was no small task, but Melissa made it seamless and easy, adding hidden nooks and seating all around the property for guests to cosy up to.

The private beachfront family home was the perfect choice for our reception and was the perfect venue for us to celebrate our wedding with all our family and friends from near and far. Instead of a guest book, we opted for vintage postcards collected from all over the world for guests to sign. Vintage lawn games where sprinkled through the yard and were the perfect place for friends to gather and enjoy a game of croquet or bocce ball while taking in the views of the ocean and sipping on a glass of champagne. Old plantation windows were beautifully painted by the talented Miss B Calligraphy to display our dinner and dessert bar menus.

I had my dress specially made for the occassion and choose champagne satin overlain with ivory lace and pearl beading. After falling in love with all the sexy backless dresses of this years bridals season I opted for a mermaid flared skirt, corset style bodice, lingerie style straps, and a low back to complete my look. Hawaii weddings are all about letting nature decorate things for you so I opted for simple jewelry and choose my grandmother’s pearl bracelet and my mother’s pearl earrings. I also opted for mis-matched bridesmaid dresses in peach, blush, champagne, and lace. I love the look of dresses in a matching color scheme but unique to each individual girl and I felt that it really complimented everyone and let their beautiful unique selves shine through!

My little nieces entertained guests during dinner with an adorable Hawaiian hula dance. Keeping with the Hawaiian tradition of the bride dancing hula on her wedding day, my sisters joined me in a hula dance to honor our parents who had passed away.

As night fell, the band stepped it up to provide fun and lively music for our guests to dance to while others went to visit our Slow Motion Video Booth which many told us was their favorite part of the entire evening!

The night ended with a glittering sparkler exit and was over all too soon! It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
