I’m getting married in Maui on 9/16/13 and being that I have naturally curly hair that tends to get frizzy right away I’m thinking I need a professional to do my hair… that sounds so funny… anyway, I’m getting married on Makena but staying in Honokowai which is on the westside I’m thinking I’ll want to see someone there and then make the drive down south to Makena Cove. Who did you use for you hair/makeup, were they good? I can’t seem to find anything really online… help?

@laralove: I got married on O’ahu at the end of May, and I’ve got really curly hair. My sister diyed my hair with regular hairspray (and maybe gel?) and it held up pretty well all day.
Here’s what it looked like right after the ceremony
Here’s what it looked like at the end of the day (after a nap, being pulled up for a shower, and then pinned up by my amazing sister (moh) at the reception 🙂
I wasn’t particularly picky about it, but I think it held up ok 🙂 Good luck!
P.S. We honeymooned on Maui and it was great and beautiful.

I am getting married in Maui at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua in January. I have been told that it can be very windy on the water in Kapalua. I originally wanted to wear my hair down, but I am now opting for halfway up, or an updo with fresh flowers that will match my bouquet. I am having the salon in the spa at the Ritz-Carlton do my hair, as the stylists there do a lot of weddings. Is there a salon at the hotel or resort where you will be staying? If not, could you book a hair appointment at a nearby resort that hosts many weddings? I am sure no matter what you do you will look beautiful. The key, to me at least, is to feel comfortable enough that you are not distracted by worrying about your hair if it’s windy or hot.

I’m planning to have my destination wedding in Maui on October 3, 2014. I found a really great hair and makeup artist called Maui Mira. I’ve already booked my session with her for next year. I’ve spoken with her over the phone and she’s super friendly. She is willing to travel to wherever you’re at. Here’s her website: http://www.mauimira.com. I hope this helps!!!

I’m getting married next month (!) at Kukahiko Estate in Makena (just south of Wailea)- oceanfront, so it will be windy. I’m thinking of a low, sort of messy chignon- it will look natural and if the wind blows it a bit, it will just add to the messy look (I’m hoping!).
I’m using Kymberly for makeup (I’ll be getting eyelashes and airbrush): http://www.makeupandtalenthawaii.com

@laralove: Do you have a planner? I definitely recommend Tropical Maui Weddings or Bliss Maui- Darren at Bliss Maui is awesome- also is an incredible florist if you need one:)
